Anyone ever do it/considering it? I'm probably growing a beard anyway for completely unrelated reasons, but having a cause to act as a cover can't hurt. But the hell if I would inflict a mustache on myself or the world.

I'm already seriously thinking of doing it. Other than randomly neglecting to shave (not so random, when I'm not working typically) I've never grown facial hair but this is a good cause and I'm interested.
Facial hair is a requirement in academia anyway. :o
Well, I'm usually on a sort-of saw-pattern anyway. Y'know, shave once per two weeks and such ;)
How about every 2 hours?
Yes doing it this year for the first time. I tend to keep a stubbly look these days anyway, so for Movember I'll just shave off the rest. :o
All sponsorship forms available online.
And we should do a picture gallery here too ...
Out of curiosity, how exactly is growing a moustache a good cause?
Call me a cynic but to me this seems like adding those button things on your Facebook profile picture - you can feel good about doing something for a good cause, without actually, you know, doing anything.
??
You've not heard of Movember? It's to raise money for and awareness of both prostate and testicular cancer ...
Like I said, sponsorship forms available online.
Check the global http://www.movember.com/ link. There's a Dutchie page.
I've not heard of anyone growing a tash for Movember and not getting sponsorship to do so.
I'm aware of it - though I didn't know about sponsorship. Which sorta makes a point - I know plenty of people who kept their moustache, never heard about raising money. It always bugs me that people suddenly feel like they're doing good for growing a moustache, or adding an icon on facebook, rather than actually doing something about the issue. And why would you need to grow a moustache to raise money, you could just donate money anyway. It just seems more of a fashionable thing from my end. Like I said, I'm probably a cynic.
I get your point.
But, well, I guess some times / some people need a prompt, a trend to follow, a kickstart.
Would I wake up one morning and randomly decide to donate money to prostate and testicular cancer research? Unlikely.
*shrug* I suppose I may chuck change into a charity-collectors pot, as most do from time to time.
Am I going to grow a tash and get sponsored for it? Yes.
Like any drive, it raises money. Struggling to find negatives really.
Eh, you're probably right. I just find it annoying at times when certain people feel like they are saving the world by doing next to nothing. Of course, it's better than nothing, but often the motivation seems to be feeling better about yourself, or your image, rather than actually helping. But you are right, no real negatives, I'm just being a cynical asshole, sorry :p
Of course the downside of requiring a prompt, trend, kickstart, is that basically people will only give X money to charity, and now charities will have to compete for better prompts, kickstarts, and the more time and effort that takes, the less is spent on actual charity. But that's a different debate :p
They idea of asking people to sponsor my really creepy beard is sort of off-putting.
Girls raise money for breast cancer all the time, with plenty of pink things to go with it. Prostate and testicular cancer just isn't often spoken about and certainly doesn't have the same raised despite being just as serious. I think it's good not just the cash raised but the awareness too.
I've yet to see anyone show me their boobies to raise money for 'em.
Wait. Nor have I seen anyone show me balls to raise money for them.
How do I know what I'm paying for?
I think I've seen boobies trying to raise money. Not 100% sure, may have been distracted by the boobies :o

Slogan is definately better than I love balls, I suppose :p

Registered, sponsorship forms printed, 3 sponsors thus far, 1st Nov tomorrow, off with the stubble and ready for a 'tache-tastic month.
I should charge double sponsorship cos mine will be a highly dodgy ginge 'tache. :o
Registered and created a Movember account, here is my MoSpace complete with incredibly dodgy photo: http://uk.movember.com/mospace/4529049
If anyone wants to sponsor then any donations on that link would be appreciated :)
Good goin.

I only shave once or twice a month anyway, so no real point on my end, but Hot Wheels decided to join in. Pulled this off their facebook.

I've donned a fiver sunshine.
Despite you breaking the Movember rules by having a beard. :o
~
I'll get a photo up over the weekend.
Thanks Tim!
For business reasons I've had to refrain from facial hair growth until maybe the end of the month. This is the second time this year that I've had to postpone the beard. :sour:
Business reasons?
That sucks.
Have stuck a couple of new pics on my page. People have started shouting 'HEY GRINGO' at me n stuff
Donations at around £150 on and offline so far.

I demand you acquire a UK WW 1 uniform (obviously a repro) and have yourself photographed in it with that 'stache
This is a thing that needs to happen
The Rock seems to be participating as well
