Yeah, Bill, while saying its a time waster, thinks it harmless escapism.
video is nothing more than old people talking about a generation they don't understand listening/watching music videos they don't understand.
emptiness, numbness, ponies, drugs? Both talking heads are full of :bulb:
I wonder when Bill is gonna retire and spend more time playing with falafel.
its the motions of riding a horse, not dancing like or with a pony :bulb:
Horse/pony same thing. I've never seen a horse that small.
likely because we don't have hover shoes yet, just like our parents weren't really rusty cyborgs or kungfu masters
We call them carousels, around here they are just as likely to have dragons and manatees as they are to have horses or ponies.
He also dances in buses, elevators, stadiums, and hangers.
Would you rather we call it the elevator dance?
EDIT:
Randblade deleted his post
I deleted my post within second of posting it as I wasn't happy with what I'd written, not to make you look silly. Oh well.
What I said for those who didn't see it in the seconds it was up is that part of the video includes a fairground pony ride - I realised Americans used a different term as soon as I wrote that so I deleted it.
Either way though call it what you like: horse dance or pony dance. Same thing. Pedant.
I'm going with horse since thats what Psy labels it as. He seems to be a rather chill and down to earth guy. Been doing a ton of interviews lately and seems to love photogs. He was supposed to play at a concert down here in a few weeks but I think he decided to do something with the president instead.
I'm not saying horse is incorrect, I'm saying it makes no difference whether you use the word pony instead of horse.
God you sound like the worst sort of Trekkie right now.
and you sound as out of touch as the talking heads in your video :p
There's millions of references to the Gangnam Style dance being a pony dance, rather inevitably since they're interchangeable words in this circumstance. I suppose you consider Rolling Stone to be out of touch :p
That snipit is better. They at least understand the difference between riding a pony and jumping and dancing like one as bill repeats numerous times in the video. The original correction I made in post 7 (hopefully you can see the difference in those). Between that point and here I was trying to stick to what psy calls his own dance. Rolling Stone did get that right at one point.
Why would he even have a 5 minute segment about it? It's just a catchy song with a goofy video. Not everything has to be deep and profound. I'd like to know if these old farts ever watched Monty Python or The Three Stooges at some point in their life. Just laugh or turn it off, gee whiz!
It's internet driven fear. They worry about "viral" entertainment in the new millenium. They don't know how to quantify millions or half a billion "views". Especially when it comes from "a little fat guy from Pan Yang, or some place....jumping up and down...doing The Pony". O'Reilly and his guest were exposing themselves as the same old farts that wouldn't have understood Elvis during his time, but are trying to sound like wise sages by citing Elvis. Fox News, Fair and Balanced.
However, if they'd done a segment about the internet/emails/Facebook/Twitter/cell phones/text messaging or multi-tasking with technology being addictive like a drug....I would have taken it seriously. That's a discussion worth exploring.
now that I'm home I can find the original on youtube.
horse stables at :25 & :30, mounted riders at 1:12, 1:24, 2:56
elevator at 1:54 & toilet at 3:15
couple favorites:
then there is the one that got 14 people fired because the old people in charge "didn't get it"
but hey, the important thing to remember is that these people are empty and numb addicts
But of course it's a drug. It's a physical activity that's a lot of fun. Of course that improves the chemical balance in your body.
