Was there any technical aversion to the mass deletion of posts? I mean outside of the whole "posts are the property of the community" bit...
I imagine there wasn't a good way to just delete a forum. Mods could delete threads *though they're still there, in the mass of deleted materials*, they could mass-prune material by a particular poster, or by a date threshold, but by area? I suspect the system doesn't make that easy.Quote:

It is sad, the end of an era, but somewhat inevitable now after everything that happened. I'd like to repeat what I said in the other thread, please don't anybody troll any of the other forums etc like the lame WPHers trolled the CC.

They should have just done this from the start. It was the inevitable conclusion of their new policies.
They should have expected the 'full of controversy and repeated violations of the forums terms of use', fucking idiots.
AtariCC forum was hidden. How else could you deal with a collection of closed threads where Timmy spammed and derailed the threads.
If you look at almost any thread, they are an icon on how a moderator can derail a thread with arbitrary infractions and causing the natural complaints and questions on moderation rules (personal interpretation of Atari rules). The result of reading those threads is that you end up thinking:
- Timmy does not follow Atari rules. He IS the rules. Atari rules are just the words of a god, and Timmy IS the god.
- The 'full of controversy and repeated violations of the forums terms of use' comes after people did not understand that "Timmy IS the rules".
- Timmy is always right.
- Timmy does not make mistakes.
- If he makes mistakes, then Timmy is always right.
- AtariCC was designed to amuse Timmy, so he can turn it in his own personal moderation blog, and anyone derailing from that would get an infraction.
- The new company style seems to replace the interest of the company for making profit for the higher moral ground of helping Timmy to feel important.
- You wonder if Timmy had sex with someone important, so he gets all that protectionism from the company, even after posting moderation posts that violate company rules.
Here it is what you can do:
As long as Timmy is a moderator and gets no infraction points, your role as a vigilant will be important.
Instead of posting there and be blamed for "trolling" you must remain a lurker who gather links to Timmy's posts where violations of Atari rules become evident, or where attempts to hide his friends from getting an infraction from Atari are evident, or where his infraction bullying misbehavior becomes evident.
Once posts are reported here, if there is a real cause to report, we may report his posts.
Timmy wanted to become hated, or he would not have mistreated the loyal customers Atari had in us. Let's give him the pleasure of knowing that even if we do not hate him (we will not spend our emotional energy on him), there is a slight dislike towards him (so we may gather his violations as a matter of vigilant hunting sport).
Normally a moderation should be moderate. With every word he will risk to make a mistake, and his style makes him prompt to infraction bullying towards kids in a family friendly forum. Unlike us, kids do not compaint (which is good for Timmy) but they hurt themselves, and if it goes far enough, a kid may commit suicide (bad for Atari).
So our vigilant work on Timmy would be aimed at protecting Atari.
I wish they would delete it.
