Clip's okay, but that's one bangin' tune that goes with it ...
Wow, this is incredible. What's incredible is that there are tons of clips like this. And that they basically take the thing apart by hand with blowtorches and some pullies.
I think it's amazing what these guys do. It's so dangerous though - not the sort of thing you'd do unless you were desperate.
At least they get to listen to some banging music while they're working though....
Thats pretty damn cool, i love how they get the ship on the shore. I'd like to give it a go, i don't know about anyone else but any form of 'legit' demolition is good in my books. Loved destroying a wall in my mums kitchen when we opened it up ... awesome fun!

A life of shipbreaking is often a short one, and one that often ends violently and tragically. Breaking up ships is a necessary industry, but there's got to be a better way than taking advantage of these ultra poor people who can't do much better for themselves. It's a grim proposition......choosing either to starve or risk getting sick , injured, or killed in the breaking yards. Though costly, I'd much rather see western countries dispose of ships locally, where it can be done safely.
Sorry to be another killjoy.....Quote:
this is taken from workingman's death, quite a good documentary. this clip makes it seem fun and exciting. but it's dangerous. many ways to get killed doing the job.
Salvage shipyards are cool tho, such massive metal! There was a documentary segment about retro-fitting those huge cruise ships, the kind that are 20 stories tall, but I forget where I saw it (maybe cnbc covering the cruise industry?)
Aw, I thought that answer was going to be Waterworld. :(
This must be an incredibly dangerous job.
I've heard that taking out a wall is a gas--never had the opportunity.
Wut?
Waterworld is, without a doubt, the hottest porn I have ever seen.
What is so complicated about that statement?
I'm just failing to recall which part fit that bill....
What is complicated about that statement is that anyone found anything positive to take away from that fekkin movie.
EDIT: Scratch that. Completely ... scratch that.
Jean Tripplehorn.

I'm not the only person who likes it, damn it.
In that name weirdly Freudian?
I'm still racking my brain for anything pornographic. Jean of the strange surname notwithstanding.
*sigh*
No. I won't explain. You can remember every insult ever made to you, but you can't remember what I said about this movie once upon a time?
It's just Mad Max 2 but with sand replaced with water.Quote:

I like Mad Max 2.
But you lust after so many, how am I to keep them straight? (pardon the pun)
But seriously, I may have never seen it. There's a good chance I would have ignored a Waterworld discussion. I set the bar pretty low for action movies, and lower still for action/science fictiony movies, because it's simple entertainment. But Waterworld scored abnormally low for me. Especially given the budget: how can you make something that uninteresting given that budget, an actual supertanker, and Dennis Hopper? Only if you have a special education class (or a twelve year old boy) write the script.
Back away from the Road Warrior, bub. We're talking Mel before he decided that mania was a school of acting. Tread very, very lightly.
My lust has nothing to do with any of the characters in the film.
So, it's evoked by endless expanses of water? Supertankers? Jet skis? You watch PBS oceanic eduTV to get your rocks off? Help me out here.I'm curious.
Doesn't everyone watch PBS oceanic eduTV to get their rocks off?
Is that a subtle fetish reference lolli? Leave it to lolli to take a thread on old oil tankers and before ya know it, sex is involved.
:haha:
Hey, Tear is the one who made a reference to my fairly well-known fetish. :p
....I never know what's going on around here....:pout:
oops, see, I can't even do emoticons right. POUTS
:yum:
Oceans are hot porn for lolli? what?
