BBC - US youngsters are too fat to fight, warn generals
Rising rates of obesity among young Americans could undermine the future of the US military, two retired generals have warned. More than a quarter of young Americans are now too fat to fight, they said.
What do you think Americans will do about it?
A) It's a good thing anyway.Quote:

C) Totally irrelevant, since the number of folks in the US military is <0.3% of the population, (not to mention that actual combat troops make up even a small fraction of that number), which means it's not exactly difficult to draw combat forces from the 75% of Americans who aren't "too fat to fight."
Just another sensationalistic "we can't find any real news to report, so look at the 'crisis' we invented" news story.
I'm just stuck on the image of a fat kid in combat gear, M16 in one hand, slice of pizza in the other, trying to storm a building but getting stuck in the doorway.
Plus it's not as if they don't beat folks into shape when they are inducted.
Technically, they starve you into shape.
The only thing worse than boot camp food is reduced calorie boot camp food. It's not too much of an exaggeration to say they feed you lettuce until you make weight. And not even all-you-can-eat-lettuce, either. :downcast:
Its nothing boot camp wouldn't fix. :oQuote:

I started militantly going to the gym and saw what it could do. :o
The question is, what is happening to him. I'm still on the fence whether it's conscious or a natural progressionQuote:

PS Your next post will be 1333 which is cool.
Aren't you thinking of 1337?
No, I don't find that as interesting. 1333 is just a cool number.
My glorious nation is spending a lot of tax payer money in an effort to change me, in factQuote:
