Braaazilllllll, la la la la la la la la!
(And that was never a penalty. )
Must admit I did think ... is he serious?
But then nah, no one but the commentators are that bland. It took them all of 16 minutes from kickoff to mention '66 during the England Germany match on sunday.
Fifa president Sepp Blatter has apologised to the Football Association over Frank Lampard's disallowed goal in England's World Cup defeat by Germany.
Lampard was denied a goal in Sunday's 4-1 defeat, even though his shot clearly crossed the line.
Blatter said the debate on goal-line technology would be reopened when the International FA Board meets in July.
He also said sorry to Mexico after Argentina's Carlos Tevez scored from an offside position in their last 16 game.
Well if this debacle finally gives birth to the standardised use of goal-line technology, then at least something good may come of it.
~
I like the way that there is a German company pushing for use of this tech, and who said that the game going to a 2-2 score may have changed the outcome ... :)
Manufacturers of ball-tracking systems say England's disallowed World Cup goal underlines the need for goal-line technology (GLT).
Hawk-Eye and Cairos, who make rival GLT systems, say Fifa needs to rethink its current position.
"We are using technology that is 100% accurate and adds fairness to the game," Christian Holzer of Cairos told BBC News.
Fifa has consistently refused to entertain the idea of using GLT.
"Technology should not enter into the game. It was a clear statement made by the majority of the IFAB (International Football Association Board)," said Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke in March.

But not everyone agrees. There have been calls from players, managers and coaches for a number of years, prompted by a series of controversial refereeing decisions.
British based Hawk-Eye, which uses a camera detection system, and German firm Cairos, which utilises chip technology inside the ball, both say that new technology would assist referees and make their job easier.
"The decision was unfair to the English team. Had it gone 2-2 at half-time, it would have been a very different match," said Mr Holzer, managing director of Cairos.
I disagree - Brazil's defence against Chile last night was absolutely unbeatable. The Netherlands will have real problems even getting into the 18 yard box.
You disagree with who or what? :)

Didn't the North Koreans claim that they got some of their tactics directly from Kim Jong-Il? Surely those are grounds for suspension, or is there one set of rules for Western countries and another for everyone else?
Why do I get the impression that Sepp is blowing off this amount of steam to shift focus of the abysmal performance of the FIFA.
Because he's incompetent, arrogant luddite?
You forgot corrupt there :)
And arsehole.
David Blane is said to be gutted after finding out his record of doing **** all in a box for 42 days has been broken by Wayne Rooney.
After much post match/world cup analysis England have decided to do away with pitches and play on paper because on paper England was supposed to win!
Q: What’s the difference between Cinderella and the England football team?
A: Cinderella wanted to get to the ball…………
Osama bin Laden has just released a new TV message to prove he is still alive. He said that the England Team performance on Saturday was completely shit. British intelligence have dismissed the claim, stating that the message could have been recorded anytime in the last 44 years.
Robert Green - The only man to leave Africa with out catching anything .
In a statement from broadcasting house, all future England games will now be shown on the gay porn channel. It is thought that 11 arseholes being regularly shafted is too explicit for regular TV.
I can't believe we only managed a draw against a shit team we should easily have beaten......I'm ashamed to call myself Algerian.
The England team went to visit an orphanage in South Africa this morning, "its so good to put a smile on the faces of people with no hope, constantly struggling, and facing the impossible" said Jamal Omboto, aged 6.
Fifa have released a statement saying the fan didn't break into the dressing room after all, but was let in by Rob Green.
What's the difference between Rob Green's spill and BP's spill? - Robert Green has got a cap for his.
Fabio Capello was wheeling his shopping trolley across the supermarket car park when he noticed an old lady struggling with her bags of shopping. He stopped and asked, "Can you manage dear?" To which the old lady replied, "No way. You got yourself into this f*****g mess, don't ask me to sort it out..."
The FA have launched an inquiry to find out how a fan found his way into the dressing room. And another enquiry into how Aaron Lennon found his way into the dressing room.
Oxo are introducing a new white Oxo cube with a red cross on it, in support of The England team. It’s called the “Laughing Stock”!!
In the jungle, the South African jungle, the 3 lions sleep tonight. Cause in the morning, the early morning, they have to catch a flight. A win away, a win away, a win away, a win away ...
Elano seems to be out for the match against us.

From some Brazilian person:
"Ramires suspended and Felipe Mello hurt, we have a problem against the Netherlands. It's likely that we will have to start with Kleberson,"
We'll see how Asbestos likes Robben. Elano, Ramirez and Mello out.
And Hazir said: "I see no reason why Brazil should necessarily win that match."
Which is slightly different.
However you want to put it, Brazil have a solid squad this year (I won't say amazing because their attack didn't look as good as it had previously) so I doubt The Netherlands will be able to get any goals past them. Although it would be great to see the under-dogs win.
Yeah, Brazil's defense looks great, but they are lacking their usual offensive creativity and, erm, balls. Did they morph into a European side?
Finally watched the Spain-Portugal game. Spain is back up to snuff, and I know who stole the Brazilian midfield game. But they seem too interested in setting up the perfect goal, and they don't pull the trigger enough. Part of that was due to excellent Portuguese defense.
Anyway, Spain must be seriously considered.
Argentina-Germany may well be the "championship," though. Of all the top teams remaining, those two are the only ones with no difficulty manufacturing goals.
I was cracking up in the Spain-Portugal match when they kept cutting to some beautiful woman in the stands. The showed her applying lip gloss even. Hot! :haha:
How much are 11 tickets South Africa - Brazil :p
And Yolanthe looks as good as any Brazilian chick.

Brazil 1 - 2 Netherlands
Holy fuck?
I mean ... what?
How the ... ?
But ... ?
Just got back from work and saw the result.
Fabulous.
How was the match? A good'un?
First half was absolutely abyssmal (for Holland) it was like a match of Brazil/Holland against Holland. After the equalizer in the second half it became sizling and the Brazilians came apart altogether. The red card for Melo was one of the clearest signs for that. How desperate you have to be to kick a guy who's already lying down?
Big party going on on the Leidseplein (square) the people at the Brazilian bar in the next street over are a lot more quiet than they were after the first half.
Fuck yeah!!!!!
:D
I think Uruguay is going to be our opponent in the semi's.
:D:up:
Heh, my 2nd fave international team beat my fave. But I picked the Dutch in my pool, and I'm now #1 out of 30. Fun game, kudos to the Dutch.
THE DRAMA!!! Ghana gets a penalty in the last minute of the extended time and Gyan misses it !!!
For Holland it would really be good if Uruguay wins the shoot out because they will be playing their next match without Suarez.
And it is Uruguay, thank you mr Suarez for a likely spot in the finals for Holland.

do what you gotta do, but a simple penalty kick for something like this doesn't seem like enough.
Looks like the final is going to be a European affair. After 77 minutes Germany is 3 goals ahead.
4-0 final result. Germany really played a magnificent match.
I was pissed off at Suarez when I saw the replay (I was gone when it was live). It's hard to respect a player who so blatantly breaks such a fundamental rule. Yeah, he got a red card for it, but that doesn't make up for the fact that Ghana did everything right to get the goal. It's a very polarizing issue within my circle of friends still watching.
Anyway, go Netherlands! Also, sad to see Argentina go, but Germany played a very clean, strong game.
I don't know on which planet you live, but on planet Earth we've seen football like this - playing the rules at least as much as playing the ball - for over 3 decades now. It's fairly hypocritical to abuse Suarez for doing what every player should see as his highest goal; keeping his country in the tournament untill the finals.
