Agreed! That would be brilliant but this place is good enough :).
I'm currently loving work right now, so glad they done this. I have one big cheesy grin on my face.

We need one more goal!
Seems like the US is through.
Edit; the US and UK are through to the next round.
Wow, extra time American goal
USA go through and top the group in a last gasp goal!
Seems they deserved the win - hit the woodwork and had a goal disallowed.
~
England a more solid performance - a lot of chances created - some very positive moments.
At least we are through, well done to the yanks as well.
Germany - England!
:-)
Have to say I wasn't really impressed by Germany today though, in fact they only were impressive against a hopeless Autralia, and England has picked up some momentum.
Could be a tight game.
England always play at approximately the level of the team they're against.
Yeah and if Australia hadn't gone into the game against Germany expecting to lose and hoping to draw they might have avoided the lopsided result which ultimately ruined any chance of advancing. Pim Verbeek had a negative attitude to that game and passed it onto his players.
Oh sure. They were the better team vs Ghana. Not sure whether this was because Ghana didn't really play for a result.
I love those last games in group phase played simultaneously. It's do or die in those matches. :)Quote:
Good games today, I am finally pleased
Indeed.
People here have bitched about the poor play of the Dutch, but they're have been up against teams who went into the game with a defensive attitude and hoping to score one on the counter. Takes two to tango. Hopefully tonight against a Cameroon which has nothing to lose and might play attacking football we might see some scoring.
And then again, we might not. Difficult to say what to expect from this team.
Am I correct that in group F, ITA and NZL have exactly the same amount of points etc, and if this stays the way it is, there will be a lottery?
Yep, as things stand they have the same points and same GD. Normally in that situation it's the team that has scored more goals that is placed higher, but they haven't even got that to separate them. :bulb:
However, with NZ vs Paraguay and Italy vs Slovakia taking place now, there'll have to be a difference.
Have to be.
Or I'll be a-givin' birth to kittens in the morn'.
Slovaks score ... Italy virtually out

Youtube has added the vuvuzela button...
2-0!! Holy crap!
edit: 2-1 ... Italy needs one more goal
Slovakia dump the reigning Champions, Italy, out of the competition 3-2. :bulb:
Italy last in the table.
NZ fail to qualify, finishing 3rd after a goalless draw with Paraguay. :(
Great game.
That number 18 for italy, having a fit on the floor after someone pulls his shoulder, even though he has just hit the goalie in the chest... tut tut. The great stinking soppy vagina was crying at the end.
I was not unhappy with The Netherlands tonight, not quite where it should be but at least Robben got to play and 9 points also isn't a bad result :)
Yep a perfect 9 for the cloggies. :)
You've got Slovakia on monday. They put Italy out. Will be a tough match methinks.
Indeed. The Slovaks hopefully will play attacking football and not dig themselves in as Denmark and Japan did.
Portugal - Brazil this afternoon
Aye Porto v Bra should be one of the highlights of the tournament.
It's not proving to be a good tournament for some of the top European nations ...
Since we don't have a vuvuzela thread.Quote:
German police say an American got so fed up with the constant mosquito-like droning from his neighbors' vuvuzela plastic horns that he threatened to kill them with an ax.
Police in the Bavarian city of Weiden said Friday the 45-year-old man confronted his neighbors during Thursday's Netherlands-Cameroon World Cup game wielding the ax. They say he was so sick of the constant buzzing and honking from the vuvuzelas since the tournament began that he screamed: "I will kill you," and then returned home.
German authorities took the U.S. Army civilian employee into custody and turned him over to U.S. military police. The military says he has been released and the matter is in German hands.
Prosecutors are investigating whether to bring charges.
After this Portugal-Brazil tie I must say I feel The Netherlands shouldn't particularly fear playing against Brazil.
