After much consideration and seeing the system show cased by a friend, I've purchased this. Once it arrives, time to rip my DVD's and sell them on to free up space in my living room where my bookcase is. :up:
Seasonic sent me a new PSU, and I'm off for the next 2 days, and we got a random infuse of money from Brandy's child support case.
Now to pick between Borderlands 2 or GuildWars 2.
Oh, and I'm getting a bonus of 150% my regular paycheck next month. :D

The last week had made me pretty happy, because of all the Life practically bursting at the seams as it surrounds me. And that I have noticed it! A big bat living under one of my window shutters. A big hawk flying around, whose nest seems to be in one of my trees. Finding a walking stick on the garage door, a katydid by the kitchen window, a few grasshoppers in the lawn, and a new generation of toads by the tiny water pond, living quite nicely with Chippy the chipmunk and his descendants. Plus, a big long garter snake, monarch butterflies (those are rare these days), bumblebees and honeybees (also increasingly uncommon). Bunches of birds with distinct colors, Blue Jays and Orioles (one little yellow breasted finch committed suicide on my window). Crickets are abundant, my cats pounce on them when they enter the house (along with damn stink bugs).
Our little acre of land has attracted a bunch of wildlife. More than the poor deer seeking food and refuge, as their habitats dwindle. I suspect it's because we don't use any chemicals, and have a tolerance for "weeds" like wild strawberries, creeping herbs, and flowering roots and trees that aren't considered Landscape Worthy. :)
Another thing that made me happy right now, today. Shopping in the grocery store, while listening to and watching the shoppers around me. One young mom (doing a superb job) teaching her little boy letters, colors, weights and numbers, plus nutrition, in the cereal aisle. We crossed paths again in the dairy aisle, where she was trying to buy cheese, with a little boy who'd obviously seen the TV commercials for cheese by-products and "fake cheese" snack stuff. She used the Shopping List with great expertise, We exchanged a knowing kind of glance-wink between moms. She knew what she was doing, and it was really great to watch her in action. :)

After receiving my monthly salary for the last four months, with a slightly niggling feeling that they're lower than they should be, turns out that I've been put on an emergency tax code because HMRC weren't informed by my useless HR dept that I'd started a new job.
Corrected that with HR, who will in turn correct that with HMRC, and the upside is that with the correct tax deduction means my salary increases by ~£275 per month, plus I get a rebate for the extra tax I've paid for the last four months. :up:

Anyway, after nearly 8 years with my previous employer I have finished my notice period and handed my keys in yesterday. End of an era personally, but feel such a sense of relief now :)

I missed my gaming window for Guildwars 2 and Borderlands 2, but the 3D monitor arrives tomorrow so I think I'll run through Duke Nukem on it since it supports 3D.
Finished 25 job applications over a period of 3-4 weeks. This will probably go in the "sad" thread once I get the responses. :o

So...
Last week at work. Was rough. We're trying to catch up on three weeks' worth of planned admissions that had to be postponed because of safety issues at another part of the hospital, and naturally this has really put to test our ability to simultaneously provide good care for unplanned emergency cases here and from elsewhere in the region. I was on call saturday night, took over after two insane full-moon shifts with very small margins remaining, and got to enjoy the third insane shift of four this weekend. For the first time ever I personally had to go from "we might save this guy" to "there's nothing more we can do" over the course of just a couple of hours. Shifts like this are rough not only because there's a lot to do and you're always on the run, but also because you constantly know that your hands are tied and people are more at risk than they should have to be. Came home and collapsed after a day awake and hustling, got up a few hours later kinda mushy in the head and the weekend was almost over...
... but we got through the weekend without messing things up too bad and the sense of triumph and accomplishment was worth a great deal :) while I was running around like a headless chicken my lovely wife-to-be was enjoying some much-needed R&R. Went with her mum to a studio to have nice pictures taken, made great food, and I got to enjoy both. After I got up on sunday I scampered off back to work with the goal of following up on my patients and also reducing my hateful never-shrinking pile of administrative work and made some headway. This week has started well, with a reasonable patient load, things going as planned and desired, problems cropping up that we've been able to solve to everyone's satisfaction, enough time for patients and the chance to feel like we're doing a good and meaningful job, enough time for administration... like last week we've got students and it's been a blast having them around :) hopefully this will be an all-right week. I have also been given a very rare treat: a scheduled feedback session with a formally appointed mentor who's also a totally righteous dude. This is esp. nice because it looks like I'll be at this clinic until summer. My boss asked a while back if I'm looking to start my internship or if I'd like to stay, and I didn't really give him a proper answer. Today, when he asked, I was like yesplease :o
And wedding plans coming along slowly. This is of course outstanding. Finding a good place is proving to be a singularly offensive task :mad: good food and loads of delicious chocolate is outstanding. Tomorrow I shall simmer a big hunk of ribs in wine and stuff and then roast the ribs and nom it down with wine sauce and stuff. It's good wine. There will be dessert. Indeed I have high hopes for this week and it's kinda relieving to acknowledge those hopes :) gotten a little superstitious but you can't survive for very long without daring to hope.
While purging and cleaning, I came upon a poem tucked into a book. Written on a yellowing, aging piece of paper with fountain pen ink, in my mom's handwriting. Made me smile in an instant. I can see why she wrote it down and saved it. Now it's my turn to write it, on a keyboard, and pass it on.

Actually, that's not so much a Google Bomb (which is a few people actively gaming Google in order to manipulate rankings) but an actual result of Google's algorithms at work:
If diverse and a lot of people label pictures about Romney as "completely wrong" then, actually to no one's surprise, that term rises up to the top of results. That's not manipulation but a completely normal result.
