I'll put this down to all the snow talk in the other thread and the fact I am going to my 3rd Christmas party tomorrow and a 4th on Saturday!!!

The new trend of isolating tracks from classic great songs.
Keith Moon (late in life, soon before he died):
Probably at his peak:
God, but I really want to hear Stewart Copeland's work on the middle albums done this way. Of course, most of their songs have pretty clean arrangements, so it's easy to hear him.
Edit: Gawds, this is fun. As a musician you always try to do this in your head, but often you just can hear stuff. JUst listen to Townshend's absolutely unique style.
Suffer with me... it's stuck in my head, Nick played the video too many times.
Wow, thanks for that. :sour:
Wow, she doesn't have a very good voice, does she? Sounds like she's using auto-tune for even that simple melody.
It grows more unpleasant the more times you hear it.
Warn me next time you post that kind of music :(
I did warn you. Notice the word suffer in my post. That should have been a clue as to the misery I was attempting to induce in others.
This is because this made me el-oh-el.

You made me just order a Lovecraft book.
Yes, that is the main character of "Das Boot"
Do you hear a little scratching on the door?
The moaning on the corridor is for you.
You can be sure your screaming will be unheard
no-one will disturb us
Do your hears at the neck erect,
you never get rid of me, I gonne find you
is the sweat of fear on your brow
then I reach my goal...
It's wonderful that you don't see me,
it's wonderful that you hide from me,
I'm enjoying endlessly the feeling
I adore you fanatically much...
Barricade yourself don't let me reach my goal,
call 911 get the police into the game,
write with lipstic 'SOS' on your window,
you are my trauma.
You have no idea haw hot it burns,
the absorption and that you don't know me
a phantom that melts from desire
that's all, what I want.
It's wonderful that you don't see me,
it's wonderful that you hide from me,
I'm enjoying endlessly the feeling
I adore you fanatically much...
Love is easy but in secret it is unreached
and no fire, no coal can burn as hot.
I dance for you, die for you
I would do everything for you.
Don't let me any millimeter closer,
we get together sooner or later,
repudiate me as long as still have a strong second,
you can scream and shout
you can't free yourself.
It's wonderful that you don't see me,
it's wonderful that you hide from me,
I'm enjoying endlessly the feeling
I adore you fanatically much...
I'd forgotten about Melissa's bad 80s hair.
This one is just a beautiful, simple song. I like playing this one on my acoustic, though my lame voice can't quite cut it.
OMG, Sugar Ray covers this? Why do it so similarly? If you're going to cover something, change it somehow, give us a new interpretation. (heh, they removed "at Arles" from the lyrics). Of course, Sugar Ray does this, as they had an almost verbatim cover of Steve Miller's Abracadabra.
:haha: Ethan Hawke goes pop!
Bump:
Great song choice! Flashback to grad school.
Holy Jesus Christ! I've heard a few versions of this song, but how is it that the venue didn't melt with this one?
R.I.P.
R.I.P. dancer of Boney M.
Wow, this must be a European thing. I've never heard of Boney M. or this song, but as disco goes this is a cool song. I especially loved the long intro, with the African drums/folk rhythm guitar combo that was really compelling. I also liked the bridge from intro to first verse. Nicely done. Thanks for the new music tip!
Apparently they have some other interesting stuff.
Reminds me of Juluka, in their combination of African rhythms with European song styles and production (Juluka less fluffy, and they were legitimate South African, as opposed what looks like faux African).
Juluka has tons of this stuff out there. I saw their successor Savuka in maybe 1993 or 4? Savuka also had Johnny Clegg, but I always found their sound to be fairly sterile and cheesier. Still, their live show was amazing, and Clegg and friends did their hybrid Zulu dancing stuff, which was pretty amazing.
Wow, I wasn't aware that some people don't know Boney M, to me this is like not knowing ABBA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boney_M
Probably the most important German disco band.
And something that might sound familiar:
This already way a cover.
Yeah, I already looked it up and listened to a few songs. But the thing is that ABBA got huge airplay in the US, and is probably the single most identifiable disco act here (maybe the BeeGees because of Saturday Night Fever). I actually know a fair amount of disco, and I've never heard of Boney M. Somebody who was not 8-10 at the time might remember them, but to my knowledge they didn't get much exposure in the US. You'll notice that they had #1 hits in Europe, but didn't top #30 in the US. The music exposure is pretty different between the US and Europe, except for the huge hits. I'm guessing this was a mostly Europe phenomenon.
The radio played this song this morning to wake me up, later found out why.
Yup, heard he died. RIP.
