Is it possible to do a keyword search and get actual posts instead of whole threads?

Yes, there's an option you can select which lets you do that in advanced search, using the "single content type" tab. Down at the bottom of the "additional options" section.

We should be indexed by the major search engines. You can try that.
Is it giving no results? The search engine seems to break every once in a while, and I may need to repair it again.
