My friend just gifted me Borderlands. He really needs to stop doing that. I have too many games I need to play as it is.
Edit: He also gifted all the DLC... :/

Mario, what is your steam account name?
Steam just refreshed their daily deals. Portal is $2 for those that missed the free offering. Only 1 day left for their summer deals.
The remake of Monkey Island 2 is out woot!
Also I now have a spare copy of the first remake on steam... does anybody want it?
Good on you MM, nice to know some Kiwi's are still in New Zealand hey. :)
Finally got my SC2 beta invite. I'll likely download and install, but I don't expect to play it much at all.
I'm gonna pop home during lunch and start downloading Alien Swarm.
For free.
Because it's free.
I remember playing it when it was a UT2k4 mod, it was fun and hard as fuck even with other people playing. Hopefully the source version will be just as fun.
Good luck, Steam service for that game is getting slammed.
till then, here is a good list of free games.
Not sure if this game has been mentioned: Trine

It's heaps of fun :) You get to change between three characters and you really need all three to pass the levels since each has their own ability. It might seem a bit dry since it's rather simple but the graphics are cool.
Alien Swarm. Took a few tries before Steam decided I was worthy enough.
Newegg is having a game sale today, with a bunch of games going for $2, and a bunch more under $10 (all free shipping). Since I've finally figured out Guildwars, and know I'm only 3 missions from completing Prophecies, I purchased Eye of the North for $6, NCSoft wants $30 if you buy it in game.
I hope to get to it once I finish nightfall and factions.
Well Alien Swarm certainly delights in lulling you into a false sense of security, then suddenly pushing you over a cliff just for the laughs.
Played the first couple of levels with some friends, did well enough that the game suggested upping the difficulty level, then the third level raped us over and over again for the next 30 minutes.
Prince of Persia. The first one.

I was gonna wait to get this but after this vid holly shit. I need it. Now.
Forge in Halo 3 was so frustrating to line things up. So glad to see that they fixed this. It's nice when developers listen to the community. :)
Hang on...
The movie that looks like an Aladdin rip-off is actually based on a video game? Or is the video game based on the Aladdin rip-off?
The newest film was inspired by the original series of Prince of Persia video games, those video games being inspired by the Arabian Nights stories. The newest Prince of the Persia is based off the movie, which was inspired by the video games, which were inspired by the stories.
To add more to it, Lego has Prince of Persia lego sets, inspired by the movie, which was inspired by the game, which was inspired by the stories.
Now imagine if Lego made a Price of Persia video game. Game based off a lego series, based off a movie, based off a game, based off a book.
I think I know the solution IIRC ...
Spoiler:
Been forever since I've played that game.
The original game which we're talking about was released about 20 years ago IIRC, about 1990 or so. There was a series of games, then the whole series got a bit of a 'reboot' and all the later games are same name, similar concept but not the same series basically. Movie is based on the games.
Metroid Prime is being annoying again.
It tells me on the map to go to a place, but I can't go to it until I get a suit upgrade that I have to find elsewhere.
Then why tell me to go to the place that I can't get to instead of where the suit is?
Actually, right now my problem is getting the timing right with all the jumping. You have to hit a gate switch, then do a running jump to get to the gate, run through a couple chompers, do another running jump at just the right time so you don't have to barely grab on to the edge, and then immediately do another running jump so you don't fall down a floor. It's coordinating that last jump that it giving me problems.
My copy of Starcraft 2 is sitting next to me. Taunting me. I'm not going to be able to concentrate at all for the rest of the day.
The Sims 3 has sucked me in again. I enjoy making houses more than having the characters lead productive lives. Whenever I play "for real", they always end up marrying a rich man or woman, moving in, then murdering them for their possessions. Fun game.
Your house pictures the other day had me playing again.
I had a married couple, the husband was having an affair with the maid. She managed to have 3 sets of twins in almost no time at all (he obviously didn't think he needed condoms to fuck the white trash).
Meanwhile, the chosen of his legitimate children is inheriting a huge house and a lot of cash - the ambitions expansion makes it possible to earn a stinking fortune.
But then it gets boring.
The maid, incidentally, is hated by the legitimate children who are still in the house, and they abuse her every time she comes to do her job.
I'm playing Magic The Gathering on Steam right now. Since I only have to pay once for cards, it's quite nice. The GUI needs some work, though.
Since I primarily use the pure green deck, I've made it my habit to build my army, attack no one and generally appear non-threatening. Then, when everyone has weakend themselves and the others, I let loose. Works quite good, there are only a few people who realize that you need to harass a green deck constantly, unless you want to be overrun.
One 4-match, I had this card that spawns a 1/1 creature at every upkeep, which means that one round meant four more creatures for me. The other three guys probably didn't realize the danger - and when they did, they probably didn't want to provoke the spore hordes :) The first guy I finished off then arrived at -100 ;)
If you did not understand a word I was saying, don't worry :)
Haven't played MtG in forever. Had a MtG computer game but it wouldn't work on modern machines, would play insanely fast. Would go from game start to being killed in like 2 seconds because the internal clock was just f***ed up.
Was a fun game on old machines. Was a fun card game but haven't played that in over a decade.
I borrowed Anno 1404 from a mate.
I don't like RTS much, but so far, this one isn't too shabby. It's mostly RTManagement, but I'm fine with that. I kind of prefer building empires over <select all> <attack enemy>, <select all><attack other enemy>
Although he told me there was some kind of military and naval fighting, but it was minor.
Time to fess up, who caved for Starcraft II?
I don't think I'll pick it up unless I find it dirt cheap in a few months, I never finished the orginal starcraft storyline, and they spilt this one into 3 parts, which means automatic battlechest sooner or later.
