Right now I'm logged in via the .net address and if I click a link, the URL doesn't update. Ever. For instance right now it says I'm at http://www.theworldforgotten.net/forum.php . Which means if I press the reload button, I go to that page instead of reloading this one.
Big avatars only for old versions of IE. Latest version, smaller.
In Chrome the avatar sizes on the main page vary. They act just like the avatars do when reading a thread.
Ads?
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Love 'em.
It's showing ads for Volkswagen stuff in my Beetle "I'm becoming an American" thread.
I get ads to join al-Qaeda. :(
I get ads for senior dating sites...
I'm getting mac ads on main page. Disturbingly WHITE. D & D shows ads for home decorating sites, GC is football and sports.
Right now it's local dating sites. :haha:
The ads depend on the context of the page. They will probably be more relevant in specific threads about specific topics.
If they aren't relevant, don't click on them. That's usually a good signal to the AdSense server to quit serving that ad and try something else.
The ads have nothing to do with page content. :bulb: They are completely based on viewers location.

Ads were fine when I wasn't logged in but I really don't like participating in your experiments with my credentials.
The ads are targeted by context, location and the CPC bid being made. Groupon is a massive national advertiser, so their geotargeting and bids usually merit placement. They may also be using frequency capping, which is basically showing the same ad x number of times because they've found that conversions happen whens someone sees the ad a certain number of times.
Your login credentials have nothing to do with it, none of your credentials are passed to the ad server at all. The geotargeting is IP based.
An IP address is not a login credential, it's used by your ISP wherever you browse the Web regardless of login state. Every site you visit is logging your IP, just like every cellphone you. When someone is banned, their account is closed. We can see if account share IP addresses if needed, but some people have dynamic IPs. We have never IP banned anyone here.
Nonetheless, no personal or login information is being passed to the ad server.
I said something about donut ads, but it vanished somehow..:down:
Anyway, I used to get donut ads... a lot. Now it seems "fixed" and "targeted" now.
Or... maybe they figured out I don't eat donuts so much. :bulb:
How many ad threads do we have now? :bulb:
I'm getting donut ads, but its just a stock photo for livingsocial, and its trying to link me to St. Pete (which is on the other side of the bay).
Question: what's the purpose of Friends? I was just fiddling around and clicking on names......and Dread didn't have any Friends. How odd. I know he probably never looked or cared much about that option, but still.
The flip side is that I felt it was a nice gesture when I received a couple of new Friend requests.
So what's the deal on the Friend thingy?
Not sure. I think there was some sort of "alert me when my friends are online" feature or something like that. I've never really messed around with it though, to be honest.
I was typing a reply, a bit wordy but not too long. Then it went POOF, simply disappeared and re-directed me to the main page.
Is this something others experience, too? Rather frustrating, but not sure if it's my computer or server or v-bulletin.
Any clues or suggestions?
Am considering buying a license on my own of vBulletin. So you automatically get 4.0.8, and unfortunately that means old 4.0.x skins do not work anymore?
Was the disappearing post (POOF) thing addressed somewhere else? Just wondered, in case this is in the wrong place. :noob:
Is there a reason why the "Ireland to go bust" thread is closed?
I've never seen it. Use the .com address instead of the .net if you aren't already. If it happens again, try to note the conditions around it - it might help me repro it. Without being able to repro it, I can't really fix it.
It was apparently an accident. It's been reopened.
