In fact it happens so much that people get upset concerning how much police time WalMart uses because of the police following up on theft cases and how those cases end in settlements rather than charges. 2) This officer was working for the store, that's OT and they are very much subject to the commands of the management. If management wants someone stopped and questioned that person is stopped. The officer's opinion and what he knows of the scenario is irrelevant. That's how his authority in these security gigs work. The management could have asked for a trespass just cause and the officer would have had to follow through. If officers don't follow management they lose their OT gigs and that's a big deal for a lot of them.Quote:

Sure, shoplifting is a problem for all retailers, but not all shoplifters or "product loss" are treated equally. In my sister's case, she was a cute white girl from the suburbs, with parents that could drop everything and rush to the store. If she'd been black or brown, with parents that couldn't be reached or couldn't leave work, it would have ended differently. That was over 40 years ago, but not much has changed. Hello?
