Every empire faces its doom eventually. Might just be that this is it for the US.
After all, it's resting its head on a flawed constitution which, being more than two centuries old, is plainly incapable of adressing current issues. Everyone who denies that simple fact is deluded.
One might also make the case that they were way too lenient with the Conferedates after the Civil War - they should have made it clear to everyone that they were the losers.
Too early to be writing an obituary for the American Republic, but I'd probably start an outline doc and jot down a few ideas.
