What's messing with your Groove?

Me and a woman at work are apparently fucking each other or at least seeing each other regardless of the fact we both are in a serious/long term relationship which clearly counts for nothing :rolleyes:. Furthermore her seemingly jealous manager (who once tried it on but was told to back off by her) is now beginning to be spiteful as i talk to her and we have a good relationship. A few jobs last week screwed up and apparently i'm to blame even though i have nothing to do with the error what so ever.

Plus she asked if she could come with me on Wednesday as she heard i needed a spare hand, apparently he doesn't want her in the car with "My kind".

Thats just it, why should it be complicated or/and messy? Both of us are simply friends who enjoy chatting like every other human being. She's got a partner (a nice guy) and I've got the future Mrs Lor. Office humour is one thing but this one manager is taking things to the extreme with his jealousy.

I might be getting rather heartless in my age, but people giving sob stories about how this volcano is stopping them getting home don't half annoy me. Some of these people are stuck in glorious countries, with glorious weather ... enjoy the sodding place! Heck it's cold, gloomy and dull in certain parts of the UK. :mad:

My groove is all fucked up from a business trip that involved 5 flights in 3 states (and 3 time zones) arriving back home at 2am and finding myself at work at 7am. Meh :(

It's lovely where i am at the moment, only a few clouds in the sky and very bright. :)

Hmm ... not entirely true. There's rain in Spain. :)

My boss was on a two-week holiday in Spain with wife and 2 kids - was due to fly back sunday and due in work yesterday.

The earliest he is able to get a flight out is the 28th. :bulb:

Which means he is now having to fork out several hundred pounds extra to extend his hotel accommodation, having one of his kids unable to get back to school who has exams coming up, and is having to spend a lot of time in an internet café so that he can catch up on work emails.

On top of that it is raining out there, forecast to continue for the coming week, whereas it is gloriously sunny here. Down saaf at least.

I think he has plenty of call to moan really, not that he is, because what can you do.

My lady friend was due to fly out to Portugal for a week's break but was unable to. She's pleased as it's also raining in the Algarve, so instead she's gone down to Brighton to the beach for a couple of days where the weather's perfect ... :)

Latest update is that flights are slowly resuming, but will take weeks for regular schedules to be re-implemented. Sooo many people stranded.

UK dispatched 3 navy ships to help bring people back from Spain ...

Is the Navy picking up civilians or servicemen? I heard it's the latter.

Either way, i'd rather be in Spain in the rain. When i was in Mallorca it rained once, absolutely awesome to watch, especially the lightning!

ROYAL NAVY SHIPS
The UK's emergency committee Cobra has been meeting to come up with an action plan which at the moment focuses on tasking Royal Navy ships to pick up people who cannot currently leave Europe.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has confirmed that three Royal Navy ships have been identified for the mission.

HMS Ark Royal and HMS Ocean are to go to the English Channel - but we do not know yet where they will be docking.

HMS Ark Royal's job will be to pick up stranded holiday makers and get them back to the UK. The aircraft carrier is currently off the coast of north-west Scotland because it was taking part in a major military exercise called Operation Joint Warrior. It may not reach the English Channel until Tuesday evening.

HMS Ocean looks like an aircraft carrier but is classed as an assault ship, designed to carry troops, landing craft and attack helicopters. It will join Ark Royal on the ferrying mission. It is currently in the western approaches to the UK within British territorial waters. Mr Brown said he expected the vessel to be in the English Channel later on Monday.

HMS Albion is another type of assault vessel known as a "Landing Platform Dock Ship" which is designed to deploy large numbers of troops to a location. It can carry 256 staff or troops plus a further 405 in overload capacity. Albion is being tasked to head for northern Spain where it will arrive at 0930 on Tuesday, It will pick up 220 troops from 3rd Battalion, The Rifles. These troops have finished a tour of duty in Afghanistan and will be flown to Santander from Cyprus.

If thats the case then they have no reason to complain! How fecking cool is this, you get to go home on a fucking ship the Navy use. Makes me sick! :mad:

Amanda and I had last week off as a holiday but decided not to travel anywhere as we're broke (trying to buy a new house, every penny is for that).

We had considered having a short break in Spain - would not have been trapped there if we had. Partially glad "there but for the grace of god" etc, partially disappointed. Would have been nice to be stuck I guess ;)

Spoke to a friend who has 1 colleague and 1 customer stuck overseas. Apparently his colleague is unhappy - he wanted to get back and his kids are now ratty and unhappy etc, but the customer was apparently very happy - stuck in Cairo, being put up in hotels for free and loving it.

The point is that some of those people don't have clothes to change, other have to take a pay hit because have to take unpaid holidays, try to find a cheap hotel in such a city under such conditions, especially if you're travelling with children and so on and so forth.

Not everyone does have no obligations which make taking off some more days than originally planned easy or not a financial gain.

Being a klutz in the yard. :( Tripped over a stone border and gashed my knee, got arms all scratched up clearing debris, and somehow managed to get a rose thorn in my lower lip. :confused:

I need to do chores at home, during a specific time frame or when asked per my parent's request. The chores they ask me to do at home interrupt my work flow. I would much rather use the hours that I am at optimum mental capacity and not physically tired to do more demanding, rewarding, and worthwhile work. I need to do this work so I can get a job. I need a job so I can earn money. I need money so I can move the fuck out. However the chores I need to do at home, during a specific time frame, as requested by my parent's, interrupt my work flow, resulting in inefficient usage of the time during which I am at my peak to perform the work needed to get a job, so I can earn money, and use that money to move the fuck out. Its a vicious horrible cycle, that is just resulting in me being at home longer.

On top of this, every day, they ask about how I'm doing with getting a job. My father barely knows how to turn on and operate a computer, but is wondering why its taking so long to get a web site done (need to get one done so I can get my portfolio online, as I haven't updated the old one in 5+ years). Well maybe if I didn't have to check on your the temperature of your fish tank today, every hour, to make sure its not too hot or cold, which you keep as a hobby, I would've gotten more done on the fraking web page... :sour:

...this is on top of using various web resources to teach myself the current versions of the CSS, HTML, XHTML, Javascript/jQuery and PHP languages...

...I have no programming background what-so-ever... :(

I'm 25, and like I've mentioned previously, live on Long Island. However I stringently saved for this occasion, however never expected to be let go from said job, meaning that instead of this happening possibly a year from now when I expected or would want to change jobs, I'm being hit with it now.

This was also a minor problem when I did have a job. Since my job was digitally based, I could work from home occasionally when it was needed, however I'd still be tasked with crap like this even though I was technically supposed to be working 9-5/5:30.

The fish tank thing was just today though. Other days it might be taking care of the dog, dishes, running some errand, checking some other thing, or whatever. I have no problem doing these things, its how and when I'm required to do them, thus making them inconvenient, that irks me. :sour:

Maybe you could try a calendar of time blocks in advance? I need to figure this shit out with my son, too. :(

It doesn't seem at all unreasonable for you to do any household chores at a time more suitable for you, especially if it is possibly affecting your skills from levelling up thereby hurting your profile in the job market. They must see that if you reason with them, p'ticularly if your father keeps on asking about how your job search is going ... :confused:

Why are HR so slow? All they have to do is print the CVs off and hand them to the manager. It's two weeks after the deadline and they still haven't delivered. It wouldn't be so bad if they actually did anything with them, but they routinely include lorry drivers with no computer experience as candidates for senior developer positions.

Illusions posted a bit ago so you're here....was hoping you'd come back and update about the family-home living situation. I could use a third party opinion. Do you pay rent or 'contribute' to daily things by giving your folks some money? How does that whole thing work out....
