And you keep trying to tie some nobility to your defeat; as if you were robbed of your deserved victory. That's not the case, you're a bunch of whining losers. The fact that FIFA is about money wasn't a problem for you right up till the moment that you realised that nobody cared a bit for your 'superior' bid. You threw 12 million at people trying to buy their votes, you sent royalty on the road for some extra spice. And now that it all was for naught you start acting as if the winner only could win through massive corruption.
Bunch of wankers as far as I am concerned.
Eh, there's nothing 'noble' going on here, the bid team did have anything to do with uncovering the corruption at FIFA and in fact was generally begging the press to stop doing so in a pathetic and weaselly fashion, so they can hardly claim to be noble losers. And the media aren't noble losers either because, as it wasn't their bid, they didn't actually lose. And are too generally sleazy to be called noble with a straight face, even if they do occasionally publish worthwhile stories. And no one here really thought the bid was a certitude, either.
You are just projecting emotions and motives onto "england" here that have nothing to do with reality and are just there to validate your own prejudices.
I am not projecting anything, I am reacting to the fucking bad loser attitude that is all over the national press in the UK after Russia got the 2018 WorldCup.
More bribery claims.Quote:
Sunday Times, Today
FIFA, the international football body, is being asked to investigated a whistleblower's allegations that two of its executive members had agreed deals worth $1.5m for their votes ahead of last week's contest to host the World Cup.
Another example of the sore loser mentality; now they even want their bribes back :) Wankers.

Yeah, whatever. Losers who try to make it sound as if they unfairly lost. You're still a bunch of wankers.
I'd like to point out that the risk of insurgency and militant threats are mitigated by not allowing America to host the games since they are always under attack constant attack by the belligerent extremist. they just didn't want the players to die. possibly even gain weight.
I wonder how England ever won the rights to host the Olympics? Or all the other World Cups I listed above if we're such a generally shitty and unpopular colonialist bunch of wankers?
Yeah, but England's such a woeful group of useless wankers so how'd we get it? Is it possible that the French are an even more terrible group of wankers?
Besides 1980 isn't that recent for what was then the USSR especially given the US hosted it in 84 and 96.
<stagewhisper>Of course, if Hazir wasn't such a bigot he could just point out that Randblade's comparison is faulty because his argument would actually be that the FA has a reputation for arrogance within FIFA, not that England has a reptuation for arrogance within the world, and his could just point out that any problems between the FA and FIFA don't apply to the BOA and the IOC, but then bigots aren't known for their strong grasp of logic</stagewhisper>
I've read every post in this thread so far and am genuinely shocked at Hazir's apparent hatred for the UK.
Hazir, where has this all come from?
Basically, he hates us because we won't play nice with European integration, and because RandBlade is from here.
That's fine though, Harry abs will save us from such cruelty.
It's just Steely who thinks I hate Brits, the truth is that I hardly spend any time thinking about Brits under the worst of circumstances. During my workday I check out news sites, a lot of them British. My regular exposure to the tossers who voice their opinion there have significantly lowered my tolerance for any hint of euroscepticism expressed by Brits :) Reading British media does that to you. Strangely enough checking the site of the NYT doesn't have a similar effect.
And Randblade of course is the worst kind of eurosceptic I know; the type that claims to be pro-European while never showing any willingness to improve the ills they percieve in the EU. He has zero credit in my book on this subject. Not to mention the fact that he knows less about the actual way the EU works than my potted plants.
As for in this particular topic; I think the reaction to that lost bid is one of a very sore loser who fooled himself into believing he was a front-runner and now finds out he was really a non-starter. Having nobody to blame but himself he lashes out at everybody and his auntie.

Well at least all the others love the Inselaffen.
Well, then they are wrong. I am just not willing to engage in a polite debate with eurosceptics or people who are doing the fence sitting thing in questions concerning the EU. They are either hostile to my federalism or hinder it by not taking a position. It has got very little to do with them being Brits, that's merely a style thing.
Other people, like yourself, most of the time get a picture of the EU distorted because you see most things through a British filter (you'd be surprised how many media cover Brussels from London). Those people I just consider ill informed.
Even when it's not about the EU, it's about the EU, huh?
