If you think DA2 is worth 10 bucks, at least. It's sure no DA:O... EA went on a "suckify our RPG franchises" binge after Origins and the sequels are all pretty lacking. But I guess they look pretty and appeal to console gamers and other small children. :(Quote:

Though, to be fair, while the gameplay was pretty good, it was really the writing and acting that put the game over the top.
I felt the gameplay of ME2 was rather more. . . restricted is the word I would choose, I think, than ME1. Certainly once I was on the ground I felt like I was on rails. In space, exploration was made way more 2-dimensional at the same time as it was made more time-intensive and boring. The inventory changes were a good thing though they may have cut too far, but they're directly countered by the reversion to a "count every bullet" model. ME1's abandonment of that for temporary overheating was, IMO, an advance as great as ME2's inclusion of interrupts in scripted scenes and I disliked seeing that advance abandoned.Quote:

Realm of the Mad God is a free random game you can burn some time on (no download required). Just move with WASD and click to shoot.. if you die you have to restart though. If you hit level 20 and die you can make a new class. try it out. you can save progress at level 5.

I'm doing the Deus Ex thing like Crowheart, and it's pretty sweet. AI sucks, clipping issues with canned animations (like an LTL-takedown) and the previously mentioned retarded boss fights, but otherwise it's a damn good game. Damn work, making me unable to play it for 96 hours straight. :mad:

The first set of Ambassador games for 3DS owners is live. They aren't listed openly in the eshop, but thats how you get to them.
Start up the eshop -> menu -> settings/other -> your downloads ->
Everything you have already downloaded is listed, as well as the first wave of free games from Nintendo. Simply select redownload.

The second boss fight was made much more tolerable by the fact that the boss got stuck on a piece of scenery, so I could just stand behind them and empty the heavy rifle into them. So, as you see, shit AI and shit boss fights combine to make the overall experience less shit. Haven't gotten to the third one yet.Quote:

True, but game already has code whereby certain NPCs can be either friendly or hostile depending on where you are, so they could very easily change it to make them react to you doing suspicious things, like crawling in and out of ducts or walking around with a vending machine. In general, the man-sized air ducts are a bit silly. In one area, you can take a vent from the lobby of a block of flats right through to what turns out to be a woman's bathroom. You'd think they might have had some complaints about that, but apparently, Jensen is the only person in the world who's noticed that you can climb through the things. It's better when you can break into a building by going through a window or an abandoned elevator shaft or stuff like that - something you might actually use where you a robo-secret agent from the future, the air vents which happen to take you exactly where you need to go are a bit contrived.

True enough. Much better to do the Ghost Recon thing and find plausible, or at least believable ways of making the same sneaking route... but then again, even with that, you're just trading pipes and sub ceilings for air ducts, so it doesn't really bother me that much. No secure facility's going to have those kinds of things (nor conveniently placed shadows and camera blindspots) anyway, so it's easy for me to just shrug and pass them off as abstractions for the sake of fun. Real espionage is just too boring to be game-worthy, so all games with a stealth or espionage component have to stretch reality pretty far just to not suck, which is why I guess that doesn't bother me.Quote:

A lot of the places you break into aren't actually secure facilities, though.
"Civilian" NPCs do react to you hacking, and doing take downs and stuff like that so it'd actually be pretty easy to expand it to other areas. As it is, you can hack in total safety if you construct a small fort made out of boxes to block anyone's line of sight.
