And what to do with the raw materials? My bags are constantly full. :(
in GW1 you used the materials to craft certain items. They had a storage system in place that allowed you to dump dozens of different materials into the same tab. Some of those materials went for insane prices.
You can also refine some of them to make 8-slot inventory bags to replace your 4-slot ones (leather at the leatherworker, jute at the tailor, etc)!
Thought of that after posting the message. :o Was one jute thing short of making new pants. :(
So, what guild upgrades are we considering atm? :)
Guild upgrades?
Are we actually restricted to 5 characters in this game? I've filled up my 5 slots already, and there are 3 more classes I've yet to try ...
Btw, for very quick and easy XP you can also go through the Ebonhawke gate in Rurikton (west in Divinity's Reach) and just discover all the waypoints and points of interest, remove separatist propaganda, talk down separatist sympathisers and complete the skill "challenge". It's a lvl 30 area so do NOT knock on suspicious doors!
Check out the guild panel! You can trade influence for various upgrades eg. enhanced magic find, more experience etc.
I think you're restricted at least for the time being...
Also I am rediscovering that wonderful GW hobby of accidentally straying off of the beaten path
Oh yeah, make sure to equip higher level gathering tools (eg. iron pick) as soon as you can, or you'll accidentally ruin the things you try to gather :(
Khen, Coinich, Lewk, and anyone who got this but didn't tell us about it - what are your account names?
Minx & Loki: Set up a seperate tab for guild chat. It'll help.

What do people make of it so far?
I think it's got the makings of an excellent long-term MMO. Looks like there's an awful lot to do, to investigate, to discover.
Loving the questing set up. The story quests are few and far between, leaving you somewhat obliged to venture forth and explore, but this is so far very rewarding, with lots of things to do and join in with just by running around and checking the map.
Combat is maybe a little ... lack-lustre ... but I won't be too hasty, still early days.
Have settled on the engineer, after trying every class (having to delete some chars - what with being limited to 5 chars :sour:). Am liking the rifles and pistols, turrets n stuff. Fun. Only lvl 10 so far.
Have only just started crafting too - consensus seems to be that crafting is v good. Haven't yet managed to 'discover' anything yet tho. Not sure what to put in there - bronze ingots is the only thing I've found so far that the discovery slots will accept.
Also, Khen was on earlier, tried Guild chat, only to be told "You are not in a guild", when I quite clearly am. Bug?
I'm assuming you're doing this off the new characters. You only automatically represent a guild on acceptance of an invite. For new characters, you need to go into the guild window, select the guild, and then click the represent button at the bottom.
Will give impressions later.
Represent. KK will do.
Can't afford this (money or time) right now, will think about getting it later maybe.
Seems like there's day one login issues like Diablo. Funny that. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19396673
They shoulda known to fix up their login-servers, but, on the other hand, it is an MMO rather than a single-player game and it does let you play on overflow-servers :o
Warning to those of you who are compulsive gamblers/experimenters: do not jeopardise your armour in the mystic forge. Only use what you can spare :o
I am loving the necro and it's been ridiculously fun to roam around, even more fun than in the original game. The ginger will be joining me presently
On that note, Ussabertooth is my fiancee, not me. :o
Given this, I think it's actually felt like a pretty smooth launch. I never hit any login issues myself (though I think that was because I logged in more than an hour before we were supposed to be able to on headstart night, and probably just managed to dodge the login servers getting completely hammered). Had connection dropped a couple times, and spent more time than I'd like in overflow servers, but nothing really too serious.Quote:
If you were enjoying Guild Wars 2 during the headstart weekend, you weren't alone. In fact, chances are 400,000 others were doing the same thing at the same time. Although Guild Wars 2 only officially launched in the wee hours of this morning, the game has already hosted 400,000 users online concurrently.
We may have gotten lucky going with an American server - from what I've heard the European servers have been having more serious and frequent issues for some reason.
It's all the Muslims... Flixy may think race isn't an issue in Europe BUT IT IS
Also I think we should exploit our privileged access to Ussabretooth to glean important information about Loki's wardrobe.
Don't worry, I make that mistake all the time. :o
My impressions on the game, for anyone on the fence about this:
I actually spent the early few levels a bit unimpressed. But pushing through that, by the time I got to level 10ish I realized there is a ton of stuff to do in this game - the amount of content present is staggering. I fully expect this to hold my interest for a while, and if they stay on a regular expansion release schedule, I may get stuck in the game until GW3.
WvW PvP is rather fun, and a pretty cool idea. Maybe I just don't understand it, but the "eternal battlegrounds" version seems like the poor underdeveloped version, the more static borderlands battlegrounds are better. They also seem to be fairly decent ways to level up and get crafting resources. I tried a bit of structured PvP in the mists too, and it worked, but I think the WvW was better.
I'm actually glad that there aren't any raids in this game. That was a feature I was never excited about in WoW, and sounded very unfun. The 5-man dungeons are plenty. Speaking of - we should do one of those...
In short, would recommend. At least for now.
Also: Crowheart - you said you were in, but we still don't have your account name!
I'm in, just won't get the game until tonight after work..didn't have time to do the early access on the weekend, so decided to just wait till launch.
Is there a race restricition to join the guild?
Cause I don't wanna be a human or Nord, I want to be one of those squirrel people. :)
No restrictions at all. Not even on the server. Though we're all on Maguuma if you want to do more that guild-chat with us.
Sounds Disco..
Hmm...wonder if "Disco Rat" is taken.
I'll need to dust off my bag of silly names...haven't MMO'd in awhile.
Race restriction mostly for co-op in the personal story :)
Someone needs to explain to me how you PvP?
World v World, apparently?
Do you just go to a p'ticular location?
Other kinds of PvP, like battlegrounds?
