Kath's threads were closed too, wouldn't surprise me if he got banned too for questioning the new rules.

There was probably some behind the scenes pissing match over that. We'll have to wait until Dread's around to hear the story.

Actually Dread's last post seems to indicate that he wanted to be banned. He posted in a topic that was in violation of the new rules, and with a clearly political question (about the California Budget) . It's an understated act of defiance but it was an act of defiance all the same.
