Sounds dreadful. They really could try not to make it difficult to bury the dead (if burial is what's wanted).

Sounds dreadful. They really could try not to make it difficult to bury the dead (if burial is what's wanted).
What a nightmare. I'm donating my body when I die. They can do whatever the hell they want with it, I don't care. Because, you know, I'm dead.
My garbage was just picked up - the past year or so it has been happening mid-afternoon, so it wasn't even down at the street yet. I heard it coming and took off running to drag it down (so that the I could at least get rid of the bird, squirrel, rabbit, and chipmunk corpse bits from this week). I didn't get to dump all the spoiled food out of the refrigerator or empty the trashcans inside. They really shouldn't fuck with me like this.
I do hope the garbage men appreciated getting flashed.
I've been assigned to the County's hurricane deadman group :(
I'll be one of only a handful of people who will be assigned to interface with the public before, during, and after a hurricane, while working in 12 hour shifts. From inside the library building using the new equipment and call system that was transferred over here during the RIF procedures. That means when evacuations start I have to report downtown and operate the systems that inform the public what the hell they are supposed to be doing, going, and when they can return.
The problem:

Downtown isn't exact above sea level, and its famous for flooding during our regular heavy rains. The new communications systems are supposed to be able to handle hurricane related issues, but it means I could easily become stranded, or worse, in downtown until the hurricane passes far enough way for emergency services to step in.
Are you trying to tell us you might be a dead man after the next hurricane :D
Its a remote possibility if downtown takes a direct hit through the bay and our infrastructure fails.
Can't you refuse - as the father of a young child you have no business at all being forced into risking your life.
Now, if you volunteered, quit bitching.
Did not volunteer. County employees are disaster response. I'm a little different now because I don't get to evac like most others. If I wasn't assigned here I could have been assigned to one of the other duties that would needed to be done. Like traffic management before or after, or handing out basic supplies in the aftermath, or watching the other county employees' kids or pets while they do their part in the disaster plan. If we got to volunteer for what part we wanted to do I suspect we would end up with a lot of pet sitters and few food distributors.
The perfect storm of cirumstance put me where I'm at. I'm in the lowest forced evac zone, so when I leave the house behind I only have to make a small jump to downtown. I'm one of the few people who was able to complete the system training in the short period between RIF and this hurricane season. Since we already have a library phone system, my recorded conversations showed I had a level tone no matter who was screaming at me or for whatever reason (I call it my "I don't give a fuck about your problem" tone).
Having a kid is a little sticky for right now. We aren't married yet, and Brandy is considered the primary care giver thanks to government assistance. So I don't get to play Section 4 (that part thats says I have a family depending of me to evac them to safety).
Hmmm.
Clearly your own efficiency has caused this problem.
Playstation's decision on houseparty hosts got moved back to Tuesday. They were supposed to announce the hosts on Friday :(
On a different note, the 3rd Transformers appears to be gearing up to become a total mess. Megan Fox ditching is old news, but the car/robot decisions are even more messed up...
Spoiler:
why would they change Bumblebee if he's been a Camaro for the last two? Maybe that is another character?
I always thought the Transformers movies would have been excellent if they didnt have the human characters . Well, the main characters and the parents, blech. I liked the military guys at least.
Thats the main character working in the engine bay. So it could be anything from some sort of temper tantrum over the new girlfriend, something to do with why he is also walking out of an investment building, or maybe a new car (but it has an air freshener that says Lifes a BEEotch).
Ah, I didn't look closely at the picture. I guess Michael Bay is determined to continually ruin one of my favorite cartoons as a child.
So, baby girl hates the bath. Well, she does okay until we get to washing the hair. Afterwards its 15 min or more of consoling her. Makes me sad to hear her wailing. :(
For the past couple of years, I've always gone to a summer festival, pukkelpop. Never been sold out. I wanted to buy my ticket last week, since the lineup is EXCELLENT this year - but the site was down and the next day I forgot. Then I was away for a few days, and now that I'm back, it's sold out. :(
The moving truck just got here.
These are my last two days left in Massachusetts. I will be leaving all of my friends, girlfriend of a year and a half, the house that I grew up in, everything. I'm only sixteen... It's going to be hard to start my second half of high school (junior year)without any friends, and in a completely new environment 3000 miles away from the place I've called my home my whole life(yeah 16 years...whole life...I know what some/most of you are thinking). It really sucks, especially at this stage of my life. I cried for the first time since my dog died in 3rd grade.
You'll get over it, i assure you. I had to go through the same thing back when i was that age. Turns out it worked out for the best considering i met some fantastic people and still kept in touch with others via the power of technology.
Chin up me olde fruit, it's all part of your mini adventure.
All your Windows shortcuts are belong to us.
I wasn't selected as a Playstation Move HouseParty Host :(
I almost threw up at the gym earlier. It was horrible  I worked myself too hard :sour:
Really long, tiring day at work today. Started at 10 and finished doing work at home a few minutes ago. To be fair stopped a couple of times but not much. Not even finished everything so will be back up and at it from 9 or 10 tomorrow (not decided) until after midnight. Yesterday worked from 9 til 7. and working long hours on Thursday too. Not sure what I'll be doing Fri/Sat/Sun but won't surprise me if I work through them all too.
My car may be dieing too. Some sort of warning light came on flashing while I was on the motorway earlier and the car was shuddering and unable to accelerate, only coast at the speed it was or decelerate. Kind of coasted a few miles to the end of the motorway (luckily late night no traffic) and then as I pulled off the motorway it kind of just started working correctly again. Not a good sign though, the only time I've seen this warning light before was just before the engine failed a few years ago. Then it was a warranty repair, now it would not be.
Could be all sorts of things.
Loose carburettor would have symptoms you described - or one with a bit of moisture in it.
Spark plugs, one of them not sparking properly or misfiring, quite likely.
Stupid paper cut on my finger won't stop bleeding. Doesn't hurt at all, its just when I think I've stopped the flow of blood I'll go do something, forget about it, then reach into my pocket, or go to type something, and now there's blood on my pocket or the keyboard... :sour:
