Applied for an internal position at my bank a couple of weeks back. Position is in credit and risk for our european operations, at global HQ in the city. Credit and risk is relatively new to me.
The team replied today inviting me for interview week after next. :):up:

Li'l bit nervous. I've been with my current team at the bank for almost 10 years now. Even though my role has changed in that time, I've not been for interviewed for 10 years.

Much to make me happy this weekend, some appropriate and some inappropriate... right now I'm especially happy because I've improvised my very first batch of semolina halwa, for which I actually prepared my first batch of ghee. The halwa, though experimental (because I am constitutionally incapable of following anything even remotely resembling a traditional recipe), smells and tastes absolutely fucking delicious. The missus will be pleased, and I shall continue my experiments in this field with subtle touches of lemon or lime and pistachios and stuff. The ghee... oh, the scent, lovely buttery caramel that flirts with your olfactory system without ever committing to anything :heart:

Well folks, it finally happened! My old computer (the one my "secret Santa" from the old forums gave me in 2006) finally bit the dust. It was on it's last legs, then we got a horrible lightening storm that put out the power here. Even tho my computer was off, it was plugged into the power strip and still got a shock that finally killed it! Why does this make me happy? Monday morning The Friend called and woke me up and started reading specs off a computer box, then asked me if that was the one I had been seriously looking at. (I had been researching a bit because I knew the old one was about done and had talked to him a few times about it.) When I said yes it was, he told me to go to the library and find a UPS store he could get the truck into along I80 in Nebraska. Well, I couldn't find one he could get to, so he said he would bring it the next time he was home. He is scheduled for vacation the second week of August, so I figured I could (barely) survive until then without one.
So, off to the LLS I go, figuring I could celebrate and be depressed at the same time, over a couple drinks. At 8:15 PM, the door opens and in walks The Friend. :bulb: He had driven, approximately (round trip), 500 out of his way to bring me my new computer! :heart: Not only had he just spent around $400 on a computer, he also spent about an extra $200 on fuel! :eek: He put it this way, since I keep track of his trip and load sheets that are e-mailed to him, help him plot routes, and let him use my online data back-up that comes with my Qwest account, he can use the computer for a business write-off on his taxes. (Yes, he checked with his accountant about this.) He told me I am worth the expense because I have helped him with his own laptop and with his work stuff. Plus, he thought I needed something to cheer me up since this last year has sucked so bad! :)
It's been 3.5 years since I set up a new computer, so I am really having a blast! It's going to take some getting used to, but so far I think I like Windows 7. It has quite a few features that I am unfamiliar with, so there is lots of stuff to play around with! Sure, I've run into some pretty weird and frustrating problems getting the whole thing working with all my different accounts and trying to get them all to work properly with Qwest and it's back-up system, (see messed up groove thread for details) but I will get it all figured out in the end. :noob:
So, as you can see, Munchkin is having a hellagood week! :cheers:

Then on Thursday, I got a text from The Friend's ex-wife telling me a friend of ours had just left me some shelves outside my door. I went out and found an absolutely gorgeous bookcase! :) I drug it into the apartment (heavy fucker!) and kinda shoved it out of the way. Now I need to get busy and arrange all this furniture I suddenly have! :D When I moved in here I had a bed, a dresser, a chair, a coffee table, and my computer desk and chair. Now I seem to have acquired a kitchen table and 2 chairs, another coffee table, and 2 bookcases! Good grief! I have more furniture than I have ever had in my life! :haha: My problem is...it's more fun to sit here and play with this computer than it is to clean my house! :noob:

I've had the loveliest sunday. It's making me very happy. My freckled one brought me a kind of gingerbread cookie that's making me all warm and fuzzy inside :heart: right now, a bit of jazz, some thumb-twiddling, and then we shall see Up, which will undoubtedly make me very happy.
I have also committed dangerous acts of cooking in the kitchen and not only have I survived, but I may have created something amazing as well. Mmmmm...
I'm always happy when people remember me and are happy to see me... even if some of them can't get my name quite right. ;)

Brandy's child support is psuedo settled. She is getting $210 a month from the first father. $7000 for 2 years of back payments, and the father has a window to find a real job before he is called back into court so the payments can be readjusted to their proper levels ($300+).
On a side note, I can understand unemployment being important, but why isn't it limited to minimum wage rates? First Father gets almost a grand a month in unemployment, meaning he has had no reason to even attempt to find entry level work until now. Someone point to me an existing thread on this.
Do you mean a thread on child support with unemployment insurance as income? Probably depends on the state...
You pay for it through taxes on your wages (or rather, your employer does), so why shouldn't it be based on your previous income?

I took the job in Florida while I was still working in Oregon, but about 20 people were fired from Florida while I was there, that Friday it was one of the designers and I. I immediately moved to Reno to stay with my sister, then to California with a friend. I got a work-from-home job for a company in Colorado, but that project ended and there isn't a new one yet so I filed for unemployment. My application was approved and I qualify for the maximum amount of benefits, so that's making me happy. :)
Good luck to you. I hope you find something more permanent soon. With your resume, I don't imagine you'd have too much trouble.
