Couldn't find a better Syria thread, so:
http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...led-or-injured
Our inaction in Syria has led to such a marvellous outcome hasn't it.
Every time we "intervene".....that's code for military intervention, long after any diplomatic "intervention" window has passed....we end up creating more political chaos, vaccums, and blow back. Sometimes the best policy is doing nothing, and allowing the atrocities to unfold.....
Now that we know the destruction and carnage going on in Syria, how will that change US policy?
Yes our interjection in Korea has been awesome. Would you rather live in South Korea or North Korea?
If you even hesitate to answer that question then you have jumped the shark.
Quite possibly yes, though it's hard to tell for certain.
As for what and when, well in the OP I suggested that at a minimum we should have implemented a No Fly Zone (and what goes with that) and we should have done that in 2012 which was pre-ISIS.
So air cover for ISIS, then?
South Korea looks much, much better than either Vietnam or North Korea.
As for why it would be because the US lost in Vietnam. But successfully repelled the North's invasion of the South in Korea, although didn't remove the North.
Korea (the South Part) is infinitely better than both all of Vietnam and the rest of Korea.
All of Vietnam and half of Korea are total shitholes.
Are you happy with that answer?
The reason the [south part] of the Korean peninsula is so much better than the rest of Korea and all of Vietnam is that the west won in South Korea but lost in Vietnam and North Korea. Had we not intervened in Korea then the whole of Korea would be a total disaster.
The only intervention in Syria I want to see is the type where we simply bomb the shit out of everybody who looks annoyed in the direction of Europe. Otherwise I would rather not get involved in that snake pit.
No I'm not dancing. It is crystal clear South Korea is best. By a vast and long margin it isn't even frigging close. Or do you disagree? Are you such a loony tunes that you actually think Vietnam is preferable to South Korea?
If you want to merge the entire peninsula which is crazy since the North and South are two separate nations then the answer is the same. Korea is better off than Vietnam. The Korean peninsula at least has one credible nation in it.
The Russians got it under control. They can bomb the fuck out of whoever they want and there's no public outcry that's going to hold the government accountable for indiscriminate carnage. Once they secure the Assad regime they'll eventually get around to destroying Isis too and then everything will be peaceful and back to normal. Like Egypt.
No because it was a pathetic and asinine question. Just because you want to try and lump in successful and capitalist South Korea with the failed Communist state of North Korea, does not make it anything other than infinitely better than the only just now stepping out of the backwater former Communist Vietnam.
How many are we seeing in Somalia, or Eritrea or Ethiopia?Quote:
How many nuke tests we seeing in Vietnam?
No the entire Vietnamese peninsula is in a dreadful state that it is only now starting to recover from because we didn't keep a piece of it. Whereas South Korea is an incredible, well developed and successful nation because we did.
Glad you have your priorities straight though. Who cares if the South Koreans were as impoverished as the Vietnamese or North Koreans in Being's backwards world.
I did not. South Korea is better. I don't know what more you want me to say. If you want to compare the sum of the two peninsulas then Korea is still better but that would be a stupid and moronic thing to do so why would you do that? You are being an obnoxious arsehole, North and South Korea are two separate countries you ignorant imbecile. Vietnam is no less testing nukes than South Korea is. Your question is like me insisting we merge the USA and Mexico to contrast it with the UK for no reason other than geographic proximity.
Let me ask you a straightforward and simple question: Which looks better to you today, South Korea or Vietnam? Do you know why that difference exists?
I must say, I'm not too unhappy with the Russians taking charge in Syria. At least they don't have this urge to work with the moderate element in Syria. It is most likely so that the moderate element in Syria left on a boat for Kos a good six months ago.
Read a saddening article about tensions between Syrian and Lebanese Palestinians in Shatila (yes, that Shatila :o) :( understandable and expected but still a sad reminder that this business sucks on every level.
