BJ you're as good in front of the camera as behind. You ooze happy-friendly, which isn't easy with that beared skinhead biker-murderer appearance. Well done.
Let's see it then, camhore.

You can just hear him giggling like a schoolgirl in those pictures. :)
How could you do that?!
That's not right.
She never seemed bothered by all the blood drawing and shots she has had to get so far, so I didn't have to big of an issue for getting her ears pricked. She hasn't seemed to care either.
She has however managed to already lose the back to one of the earrings.
Usually when you get pierced, the studs have those fairly large backings that are hard to come off. At least, thats what I had.
Of course, I was 12 when I got mine, ya know, the whole "growing up and being responsible" sort of thing.
Better make sure you clean those every night, and for Pete's sake get some better backings to put on those earrings. I'd hate for your infant to get hurt for the sake of vanity.
We've got a solution that we rub on her ears 3 times a day, the old ear rings used to have screw on backings, but these are the regular push pins. I replaced them with ones that were slightly smaller and harder to wiggle.
Infant earrings are a serious choking hazard! what the hell were you thinking OG.......
I'm thinking she hasn't choked yet :p
 Why bother with age-appropriate food or toys, car seats or baby gates? Sorry, but it's not funny or cute to joke about it just because it's in the piccy thread.
Seems we're doing babies. So here's baby gogo, getting big.

Actually, I've been compared to Tom Hanks for 20 years. When I had hair it was wavy, looking a bit like the Big era Hanks. Older and buzzed, I still look a bit like him. At least once a year some total stranger will tell me that. If it happens that frequently over that amount of time, it must be true. Generally I've been fitter, a little taller, and not as heavy, but there's a lot of similarity.
It's funny, but when she was in college, people kept telling my wife (gf at the time) that she looked liked Darryl Hannah. We used to joke about the Splash connection, and I'd say at least I can act. :p
She doesn't look like Hannah anymore.

I spent 9 days in the hospital, almost exactly a year after the transplant. :( Scarring from the first surgery caused my small instestine to twist up. A chunk became necrotic and had to be removed. About 6 inches. A royal asskicking. A month later, and I'm still not back to work full time. Plus, I had a hernia repair end of Sept last year. That's three abdominal surgeries in a year. I'm tired. :(
You got your ear pierced? Hippy
Wow, all those surgeries! Glad you're doing well now Tear. That ear clip is some appetite-control thing or just jewelry?
And babybongopoop is ADORABLE. Love her overall skirts. :)
Nah, got it when I was 19. A friend came back from the Navajo res and gave one to me. I lost it down the drain when drying my hair in the dorm shower a few months later, but in the interim I had gone home and my mom saw it, and liked it. So, when she found out that mine was lost, she went and got me another. So, it's been in my ear >21 years, since my mom gave it to me. Pretty weird my mom giving it to me. She's very conservative about stuff like that. Perhaps that's why it was endearing to me.
It's just a cuff (not pierced) with a simple celtic weave, so it's a minor miracle it hasn't been lost in that time, since in principle it could just pop off again. Frankly, it feels a bit like some middle aged dude grasping at youth, but since I've had it so long, I feel liked I'm grandfathered. And aside from a wedding ring, I have no jewelry. It's not something I'm into. But the only times it ever comes off is showing somebody, or something like surgery.
@Nessie: thanks for the pep talk. :bored: I get the shit kicked outta me yet again, and all you do is call me a hippie?
{historical note: the first was taken just a couple of days out of the hospital--I had not yet put my ear cuff and wedding ring on. The second was a couple weeks, and I'd remembered to re-adorn. It is best to take everything off when going into the hospital. Yes, that means the cock ring, Nessie. :p}
I always thought of your name as Tear as in cry, but after seeing that pic, maybe change that to Tear as in rip..;)
+1 for Crowheart! :D
Actually, it was a one-off for gaming purposes at one point (hence the stupid 1337 spelling), but I liked the double entendre.
Well, correlation isn't causation, but in this case...
I have no piercings or tattoos! Not a huge fan of piercings on other people, but tattoos can be cool (and they can be awful, natch). This one neo-Nazi girl I hung out with some time ago had nice Celtic stuff, she was thinking about getting a swastika on the back of her neck, I would've liked to see that!
I'm not particularly anti; live and let live. Personally, I wouldn't do tattoos for two reasons. First, they always end up ugly. ALWAYS. This is a physical property of the technique. Second, I think they are naive. People think that because they feel strongly about something they should write it on their body. But the fact is that life is change, and that's certainly true for opinions. Many of them change, especially after one has the leavening of age.
Of course, people argue that they feel these things really strongly. REALLY. And so writing it on their body just shows the deepness of their feelings. In reality, it just shows their naivete. Like I said, life is change. Everything is subject to that. It's why I'm also against changing names upon marrying. In addition to it being sexist and biologically cockeyed in how it is generally applied, it in its permanence, like tattoos, fails to recognize the changing nature of life.
In a lot of ways I was not very mature in my young adulthood. But I got this for some reason. And a certain youthful stupidity is an almost universal trait of those I have known longitudinally who got tattoos. Since I played ultimate, I know a lot of those. Ultimate did have a certain hippie/alternative cachet.
Speaking I'm actually not very hippie-ish. There was a decade where "Hippie bullshit crafts and arts," coined by a college friend of mine, was one of my favorite phrases. I'm not against all things associated with HippieNess, but the core stuff I find to be absolutely ridiculous. The ear cuff is really a strange happenstance.
As a person who for the most part doesn't remember any bloody thing longer than a couple years, tops, I could see how a tattoo would remind you of who you were, when you were young and dumb, instead of just dumb. But I suppose that's not really a good reason to get something ugly plastered on yourself.
A lot of people do it just for body adornment. Not because they believe in something so strongly they want it on their body.
I am totally into body adornment.
(it should be the individuals choice, not done to a baby)
Exactly Bitter.
An artistic enhancement to the look of the body.
Saying that i don't like the look of tattoos on girls generally. But can look great on a guy with a good physique.
Tattoo's are passe, it's big arse holes in the ears for the kiddies nowadays. We had a new kid start at work a few weeks back and he could easily put his thumb through the holes in his ears.
Therein lies the problem - so many people don't know what tattoo they "want" so they just choose random shit to adorn themselves with and most regret it later.
My first experience in a tattoo shop was as a teenager when several friends got tatt's - skulls were popular that day! I just couldn't see or think of anything I wanted stuck on me for life so I simply observed and declined. One poor sap actually got "Mother" tattoo'd under a bluebird! :haha:
I am still ink free at 39 yet I still haven't actually ruled out a tattoo or 3 for myself - although it is not likely to happen. I have plenty of mates with more tattoo's than you would care to look at and I have no problem with that at all. I actually like to see some of the newer work being done, there are better inks and very fine detailed artists around now because tattoo's are such big business.
I'm pretty fussy though, some random celtic design or tribal sroll or skull with a rebel flag won't cut it for me so unless I can come up with something truly original that I'm happy to carry for life then I'll happily stay natural.
My mum got a tattoo on her 40th :p She had kindof wanted it since she was 18, and finally did it :) It's really pretty, too (a butterfly, very detailed).
Tattoos can be very nice these days if you go to a good artist.
I haven't been "in the market" for about 20 years, but I've determined through observation that I could automatically rule out 90% of women with tattoos as good partners for me. Based on a series of generalizations about personalities, intellect, etc., even looks. But of course I've also met a few dramatic exceptions. They will crop up whenever one generalizes.
Agreed, the tats can look great on a guy with a good physique. But that never lasts, does it? So that biceps-wrapping tattoo that looked so cool on the buff 22 year old looks like hell on the flabby 40 year old.
Naturally, exceptions made for the facial tattoos of Harvey Keitel in The Piano.
