What is making you happy right now

My cats are so damn cute and such a joy. They were chasing a Tic Tac rolling around the floor, until they found a damn stink bug. *Blink* They were studying the damn bug, throwing glances at each other, both intense, then acting non-chalant. Slow crawling bug, do we wanna eat him or tease him? Ho Hum, yawn. Maybe settle down for a nap, right here. Wake me when I'm needed. *Blink* Then the stink bug took flight and made its flapping sound, and both cats suddenly awoke as if to say "Code Red, Alert, Alert, bug in flight, engage sensors, all cats on board!" and they looked at each other in a brief moment that looked like "what the fuck have YOU been doing while I was napping?"

Things that are making me happy tonight: Clapper commercials. They've added a remote dealio, but that old lady with her crazy white hair is still clapping her tv off! :D

Also, all sorts of strange products we expect at holiday gift giving time. From foot massagers you attach to your shower or bath, to the new and improved family sized Snuggie. The Nutri-System weight loss testimonials are competing with contestants from The Biggest Loser show and their food-delivered-to-your-door. And there's always a Bow Flex contraption, competing with some simple ball that will melt away your fat, make you healthy....and SEXY! Followed by an advert for Sandals, or some cruise ship to the Caribbean.

Your life will be changed forever. Operators are standing by. But wait! If you call now, we'll double your order, but it won't last long! (just pay separate shipping fees)

Makes me happy, in a weird way, that the Ron Popeil method of mass advertising is alive and well.

Gawker/Gizmodo was hacked yesterday. Which in a twisted way brings me lots of joy. :D
1.3 million accounts leaked, 200,000+ already cracked.

Thanks to people using universal emails/passwords, this is leading to all kinds of problems across the internet.

Gizmodo attempts to come across as the douchebags of the technology news world.

The password that was compromised this time around? All numbers.
This attack was a result of Gizmodo incorrectly reporting information relating to DNS actions, then not owning up to their bad reporting, apparently DNS facts are important facts to certain people.

They've been kicked out of tradeshows to using unversal remotes to shut down TV displays, even during competitions and presentations. They were in the middle of the stolen/lost iphone 4, and instead of returning the phone after they had their story, they humilated the engineer that was responsible.

It is rare for my area to get any this time of year. Flurries have given way to snow of probably 1/2 an inch, but that's alot for the Mid-Atlantic area I live in. :)

Heck, just saying the word snow makes schools/people in general stay at home.

Not well. Even if the roads aren't icy, people tend to swerve about. But then they do that when it's sunny and warm out too :P

Usually just the threat of snow will close the schools around here.

I'd really like to go out Christmas shopping but I guess it will have to wait. :)

My baby girl is 6months old today. :)

I had no idea how tough and how rewarding parenting is.

Being north of cat in the Mid-Atlantic area.....we have lots of snow plows and salt trucks, piles of salt and sand. Sometimes they use a chemical de-icer mist on highways. They also put excess snow in dump trucks and pile it in parking lots. Sometimes it doesn't melt until spring. :D

I have firewood now.

I hurt my back yesterday, today I am on pain meds, this makes me feel happy. :D

Walgreens has Hot Wheels for 49 cents. Perfect stocking stuff material, and the one by the house even had a 2011 Treasure Hunt :D Older body style with the metal base to, instead of the new plastic bases Hot Wheels has been using in recent years.

Saw All-Stars today for just £20 at Tesco's, bargain. Unfortunately I have this policy of not buying myself games in December or June as there's every possibility I may have got it for Christmas.

What made me smile is that according to my companies computer system, today is New Years Day :). The (DOS-based) system works with days split into weeks, every 4 weeks (Mon-Sun) is a "Period" and there are 13 periods a year, Period 1-Period 13. That makes 364 days a year so we lose 1 (or 2) days per year so the year starts 1 day earlier each time. Today is the first day of Period 1 2011. So I rather premature Happy New Year.

This may be the last time we have that anomaly as the long-awaited update to our IT infrastructure (that's been talked about as "around the corner" since before I joined nearly 6 years ago is now actually going into a live trial in January may be rolled out to us next year. I'll almost miss using this DOS-based system, I've gotten so used to its eccentricities.

Put into the "messing groove" column though its 4:38AM, I've not been to bed and have spent all night trying to update my systems security (and I don't mean against viruses) due to some problems I've discovered. Monday is a long day anyway, there's every possibility I simply won't go to sleep tonight and will work 24 hours today :(

I've was approached last week about a "senior" promotion coming early next year. County wants to cut a lot of Principal Librarian (2 pay grades above librarian) positions and give those duties to the yet to be created Senior Library Technical Assistant. Pay would be equal to a librarian, which means overall thats more duties with lower pay, but its still about a 25% raise in pay, degree not required.

Today I was approached to start training certain library assistants in the ways of an LTA (my position), so that when LTAs start moving up into seniors, the LAs can move into the LTA positions without a lot of WTF DO I DO?! downtime.

I walked into the LLS tonight to get a pack of smokes! As I was walking thru, a good friend stopped me and asked if I was going to another friend's house for Christmas dinner. I told him I hadn't planned to, then asked why. I got told there are gonna be grilled rib eye steaks and crab legs at 4 PM...get my ass there! I really believe there is a Santa! :D

Bought myself a remote controlled helicopter for Christmas. Fuck yeah.

Went to a tea & coffee store to buy my grandma's some tea for christmas and bought some smokey earl grey tea for myself. I just tried some and it is DELICIOUS.

I charged one retailer double, to end the argument. He was fine with that but it added serious stress on my end. I'm gonna have a discussion with him.

I also dropped a stressful customer. She seems to think it's just that I am stressed, and I'll do her work again when things calm down. She's crazy.

The other problem is I have been this busy since august. I am exhausted..

The retailers are also grumbling about me taking two days off after xMas.
Blood suckers. I am raising my prices again, and will start advertising to get my own retail customer work, that I can collect retail prices on, instead of the wholesale. I'm growin. :D
