I definitely think that fits into Zionutty! Given that his 'article' manages to mention Tom Clancy and The Wrath of Khan, though, I think we can safely assume he doesn't actually have any real power. Thankfullly.

Newton Leroy? :haha: This Republican hopeful is courting a religious base that's Judeo-Christian-centric. It worked in South Carolina, and might work in Florida...but it won't necessarily work in a general election.
If Jewish people have a right to their own state, then so do Palestinians. If US conservatives are hell bent on defending "property rights" and contractual law, then why aren't they defending the existence of Palestine as rigorously as they defend Israel's existence? That doesn't mean defending terrorists or Hamas, btw, just because Israelis or Americans have phrased the dilemma that way.....

I'd be interested to know just how widespread these beliefs are.
Sorry, Flixy, your Zionut lost this time. :(

American Jews were not happy about this to say the least. It feeds into all of the stereotypes.
I don't think I even need to wait another 11 months. Wiggin's Zionut of the Year goes to...
Israel caused the Japanese tsunami and Fukushima disaster using nuclear weapons in order to punish them for helping Iran obtain nukes.
Nowhere near as Zionutty but just as fun! There's a picture making its way around blogs, forums, and Facebook with the following caption:

"An Israeli soldier puts his foot on her chest and aims his gun at this palestinian girl."
Only problem is that the weapon he's carrying is an AK-47, not the Israeli-issue M-16 or Tavor variants. And he's not wearing an IDF uniform - the jacket zipper is wrong, and the field uniform pants should have pockets. Then this photo comes out:

Ah, I love Zionuts...
edit: Ah, I see Ha'aretz also had the story in English here: http://www.haaretz.com/news/national...utcry-1.410477
Plenty of Zionuttery to go around here: http://storify.com/avimayer/the-khul...-retrospective
I'm inclined to be a bit more charitable than Mayer, but still it's pretty ridiculous.
Some people have far too much time on their hands. :o

Our research directly addresses this issue. From a large survey of 5,000 citizens of ten European countries, we showed that the prevalence of those harboring (selfreported) anti-Semitic views consistently increases with respondents’ degree of anti-Israel sentiment (see Figures 2 and 3 and Table 3), even after controlling for other factors. It is noteworthy that fewer than one-quarter of those with anti-Israel index scores of only 1 or 2 harbor anti-Semitic views (as defined by anti-Semitic index scores exceeding 5), which supports the contention that one certainly can be critical of Israeli policies without being anti-Semitic. However, among those with the most extreme anti-Israel sentiments in our survey (anti-Israel index scores of 4), 56 percent report anti-Semitic leanings.

Kind of reverse Zionuts.
Someone needs to make an video, in the style of old British World War 2 public information broadcasts, that if you are a large organization or movement with pretensions to moral authority, it's very very important that you are not in any way complicit with sexual abuse.
Then we get the leaders of the Catholic Church, the Anglican church, OWS and hasidic jews and make them watch it.
A friend of mine who probably has a decent chance of knowing is of the opinion that Israel's planning to bomb Iran in October. Let the Zionuttery commence!
I think anyone who claims to know these things is a Zionut. :p The only people who know the answer with any certainty are Netanyahu and Barak, and I doubt they're telling anyone. There might be logistical reasons why October is a good idea, but logistics don't determine political decisions.
Yeah I'm skeptical he knows what he's talking about, but he and his wife are well-acquainted with members of the security cabinet, so I'm more likely to believe him than a random journalist. I think the chances went up significantly now that Mofaz is a player, but obviously who knows what will really happen.
Perhaps I should phrase it like this: I'm still skeptical it's going to happen, but if a decision has been made, then October is probably their current tentatively planned strike date.
Part 2 on the previous story: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/11/ny...rules.html?hpw
Mofaz is hard to parse. He's a thoroughly military man - like Ehud Barak, he came up through the ranks in an elite commando unit (Netanyahu also served in this unit), and eventually became chief-of-staff of the IDF. He then has had stints as Defense Minister where he crushed the second intifada using a significant amount of force. So, he's no stranger to thinking military force is often a good first choice, and in the past he has made any number of concerned speeches about Iran.
That being said, since his time in Kadima he has moderated his tone somewhat. He's clearly more skeptical of the utility of an Iran strike than Barak or Netanyahu, but he's far less skeptical than the main opponents of a strike in Israel's military establishment (notably intelligence chiefs and some current generals). Mofaz is also far more hawkish than his defeated predecessor at the head of Kadima, Tzipi Livni. Most Israeli political insiders seem to think that Mofaz's decision to join the coalition significantly strengthens Netanyahu and Barak's case for an Iran strike inside the security cabinet - probably both because he's fairly hawkish and because of the personal chemistry between the three men.
More importantly, Mofaz is definitely a junior coalition partner - Kadima, though quite large now, is likely to suffer a significant loss in the next elections for the Knesset. He's not going to have as much clout as Netanyahu or Barak, and his defection just gave Netanyahu's government another 1.5 years to decide on (and execute) an attack, something that would not have been possible with a September early election.
There is just no shortage of Zionuts:

"Is it true that in America, Jewish girls are crazy nasty sluts?" Question I got in Euroland two weeks ago. Not actually anti-Semitic per se, it was just sorta funny. :p
So, is it? :p
