Congrats :)
Congrats, Lor!
People usually make happy faces when they get engaged.
Like this.
:D
Congrats, though.
Finally have got a working printer at home. That's the first time in 6 years. For some reason I could never get a printer to work around this place. Today picked up an Epson SW515 and it's actually doings things you'd expect from a printer. Like not telling me (even without paper) that there is a paper jam or that there isn't a printer at all. Wireless no less.
Congrats Lor, you poor sap. I mean, lucky man. :p
Yeah, i've had that a lot this weekend - especially from her family. Although i did respond along the lines of "Being engaged is like having a car finance deal on your relationship, although you have the monthly costs you can always trade it in at any time for a better model!".
Apparently i'm supposed to feel different about it all, strangely i don't. Perhaps in my mind i already saw us engaged/married because we share commitments such as buying the house or living together already.
This -
:)
Woooooo!
Nice one Lor.
Was just a matter of time eh.
The future Mrs Lor is a lucky lady.
I feel all proud. One of our own has grown up and is getting hitched. :)
We've been together for nearly 6 years now. We're thinking about 2013 for the special day but we'll have to wait until we are settled in the house and other things are sorted.
At the moment my head is in the housing game. I went to the building site yesterday to show my mother and her partner, by the looks of things the footings are about to be put in so the plot will be going up for sale. Can't wait! Badly want a garden!
All the best Lor, just remember this one small bit of advice that should see your marriage endure and allow you to keep your manhood intact.
A man must have the last word in a discussion with his wife, god forbid you argue but even then you must have the last word.
Always, no matter what the situation, make sure you have these last words at the ready...
...yes dear.
Oh I do try to get the last word (I know it winds her up), but it's certainly not 'Yes dear' or anything that resembles that.
My dad is coming home from the hospital tomorrow!
Turns out his intestinal blockage was from a viral infection, and after several days of having a tube down his throat and not being able to have more than ice chips it has healed. The first thing he asked for was Mt. Dew and a ham sandwich. :haha: The drink he was allowed but the sandwich will have to wait until he is able to eat solids again.
:D
Hot Tea with Cinnamon and Nutmeg sticks. :)
SNOW DAY
I now take major credit cards through SquareUp on my iPhone!
Retail sales, here I come!
The Bitter Jewelry Empire.
I've thoroughly enjoyed becoming infuriated on this glorious day of freedom. Oh, and it's raining so the last of my stupid snow might be washed away at last.
Just being nosey :p
My sister married into a Greek family. It took them years to accept that she wasn't Greek, and he wasn't going to marry a Greek girl. Everyone else in his family (on both sides) had married Greeks. It was sort of like an expectation for them. They actually waited until after his father had died before announcing their engagement and planning marriage.
When my father met my mother, it took my grandfather a long time to accept her because her family were from India. I've heard stories of him trying to send my father away in an attempt to split them up as she wasn't a 'Greek Woman'. He did, over time come to his senses and even got really upset that my parents split and divorced.
It's kind of funny how it's the father who puts these restrictions up and how the mother simply puts up with it but when push comes to shove the father is probably more reliant on the mother than what he's prepared to show (male pride thang n all!).
I personally, would never ever listen if my folks told me to marry a certain girl.
When I say waterpressure in Amsterdam I use the term loosely; it means that water exits the pipes through a faucet or other outlet. It doesn't mean that said water does so with any force. Appearantly all those cute little old houses on the canals have got pipes that can't deal with actual pressure.
That means that for the last 7 years Istanbul was lightyears ahead when it came to the joy of taking a shower. When in Istanbul tropical rain, when in Amsterdam moderate drizzle. But then the old showerhead in Amsterdam banged on my head the other day. It had simply broken off and since the renovation is still not happening something needed to be done. So I splurged on a new shower head the other day. All of €9,90 at the Blokker in the Kalverstraat. With some trepidation I removed the remains of the old showerhead and installed the new one. Then de-installed it all again because I'd forgotten those little rubber rings that need to go in the hose. Finally, it was done. And then I tried the thing. It turned out it had actual settings, most of which didn t really make a big difference. That is, untill I hit the 'one nozzle' setting, which forces all the water through a tiny hole after which it spurts out with some actual force and turns into a nice spray.
It almost felt like a real shower, for the first time in 7 years in Amsterdam.
Finnishing up Seaon 2 of Lost.
Yeah, I am late to the game. :)
Hahaha, Hazir. I know what that feels like. In college we lived in a house for almost 2 years, that had no water pressure (it seemed) for the shower. Upon leaving we told the landlord. A plumber came out, took the shower head off, emptied it of rust and debris, and tah dah! Fantastic shower!
Ha, I'm up to episode 18 of season 1 in my rewatching because of you.
Already had an interesting moment from it.
I'm happy because i think ex-Wii will work for Netflix on the teevee in my bedroom. We'll see, I think it only was nonfunctional with discs involved.
(I wouldn't mind if I could play the downloaded content off it again, too)
Went to see Rifftrax live in San Francisco on Thursday. They didn't do a meet & greet afterwards but I was still able to get my Tom Servo signed by Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett. I only need Mike Nelson's and I have the full MST3K cast. :D
Gasparilla parade and Monster Truck show in the same day. FUCK YEAH!
