First of all, how can you assume ANYONE here knows what the hell is going over "there"? None of us have a clue, because the communication was handled so poorly. You may have access to the mod forum or Phoxe's ear, but no one here does. Consider the context.

The new threads Over There, started by mods are, in fact, silly. They cause anyone who's been there a while to ask WTF? Food and chocolate and embarrassing moments? If you have an explanation that makes better sense than my GUESS was, please do share.

I've started a few threads and a couple have gotten heated. I've even said things in other threads that got heated. Unbeknown, it seems, to the fukheads who have jumped all over me I have done my best to create a bit of fire. Apparently they are too freaking retarded to see this and just, as usual lately, jump on any perceived "Atari" authority figure out of blind rage. Well fuk them. You tried your best to undo the Fox Pox damage, probably behind the scenes that no one here is privy to. You tried humor and all that, but it won't undo the damage done. You were absent Over There for a long time (understandably) so your re-appearance trying to calm things and laugh it away just did NOT work.

Surely you can see this, if you step outside your long-standing history as a previous Atari employee and volunteer Super Mod perspective. No one has made you their personal punching bag, but you take it personally since you had a personal and emotional investment in the Other Place for YEARS.

Well so did Rand and Dread, and Timbuk, Nessus and Lolli and anyone else banned. So did munchkin and Crow, and GGT, and anyone else who resigned and/or left. It's a sad and ridiculous state of affairs Over There, and my opinion is that every single moderator from the "old days" should just up and quit. Leave, ask to be de-modded, as a matter of principle and integrity, or loyalty to the members.

It's not like anyone is being paid to stay there, besides Phoxe. The rest is a choice, and I do think if the old mods and super mods just left, that would be the best "reset" function of all.

Anyway, XYZ is just a common term, don't blow it up, but your apology is accepted. ;)

I suppose people could make things a lot easier for themselves if they'd stop going back to the CC as it's simply no longer what it was up to a month ago. I sometimes look at it, but I don't post anything there any longer as I don't feel it's my place on the web after the policy changes.

But I also think you can't really say 'true colours are coming out' when there are some people who feel like they have lost something that was important to them. I don't really feel like that because as far as I am concerned this place is better than the CC already, but I do understand that some aren't there yet. You might try a bit more understanding too.

Well, for my part its true I don't have a clue (rhymes :) ) and I am jaded. But I'm not at all angry or bitter, at least about the atari forum going away. I'm glad in fact. It gave me an opportunity to change my name I wouldn't have otherwise taken, this forum's much better in every way and everyone I care to communicate with is here, and there's no atari logo anymore to embarrass me at work. :)

I think shutting that down at atari was probably a pretty good move to reduce risk for the corporation and in the end, besides a heaping dose of disrespect to people who cared, everything is better now, for atari and for this community. I frankly have no idea why anyone's going back there to harrass anyone or even why this thread has gone on so long as it has. Some people just have more invested in a concept of place than others, I guess. But for me, that forum was the people I talked to. They're here, so..... :coffee:

You can see what I was thinking since there's only about 3 of us posting on CC. My posting history stands on it's own, as does my moderation of late now that I've returned to try and suss things out. You can't reset the dead, and if the forums continue on their course for much longer that's what they'll be. In any case, I will chose the time of my departure and not any one else. Until then...

Like I said, I think there was far too heavy and hand used by both nessus and ggt. I actually quit posting before I was demodded, simply because I didn't know what was against the rules and what wasn't, since there was no clarification. In fact, as far as I can tell, NO ONE is sure what is allowed and what isn't. It seems to be, if Timmy or Biogal or Carrie starts a thread, it's ok. If anyone else starts one, it's not. In fact, having just been there for a few minutes, I saw 3 threads I would consider advertising, simply because they have trackers on who clicks the links.

I understand. I just couldn't deal with the way it all happened. Just all of a sudden, "oldtimers" were being banned for things that had always been allowed, and there was no explanation, not in the public forum or the mod forum. With all the other shit going on in my life, it was a headache I did NOT need right now.

What I see in Atari forums is that it is forbidden to go off topic in the off topic forum...
It means... "if you go to Atari, talk about their games, and please, say appropriate things about them, so do not go off topic..."
The good thing about being here, is that we are not breaking the rules there.

If you run out of old timers who used to provide free tech support on games, the company should put tech supp personnel in place.
Instead of an enthusiastic gamer, the company should put a salesman, spamming forums with advertising, instead of interesting topics to encourage visits.
All that costs money to the company.
Any marketing newbie knows that achieving customer loyalty is a key for business.

Rand, I think that as we depart, they will face enough costs.
They are for the money, so do not do things that let them make money.
