If America is bad then anyone opposed to America must be good, that seems to be the level of thinking we're dealing with. I'd have expected that those anti imperialists would oppose this imperialist behaviour from Russia, but then again they don't always make any sense. For what it's worth, most of the people I know who lean anti imperialist and opposed the USA in Iraq itself (myself included) strongly oppose Russia here. Politically I have only heard pro Russian sentiment from the right wing populist trump like side, but I haven't paid a lot of attention to be honest.
Politics is a social activity. These inconsistencies make more sense if you think of them as part and parcel of membership in a weird club where you can enjoy being with your weird-ass friends.
The only support for the Russian invasion I've heard came from Trump's mouth, just before the war launched. Most of my family voted twice for Trump, but not a single one supports Putin's war. On the other hand, I've got a lot of left leaning friends and not a single one of them supports Putin's war. Who the hell outside of pro-Soviet revivalists support that invasion??? And even most of those have to recognize by now how ill conceived the whole thing is.Quote:
