Good news for Odessa.
Exactly my thoughts.
The preferred terms these days are "had its buoyancy modified to a negative value", "was promoted to status of a submarine" or "was sent on a special underwater operation". There's no such thing as Russian losses, remember.
There were so many reports of the ship both sinking and being fine at one time that I thought the ship should be renamed to "Zhirinovsky". :downcast:
Well, it HAD certainly reached the end of its operational life at that point, so it makes sense that they planned to just let it sink.
That's a joke, fake tweet right?
It's hard to say with some of the unbelievable claims of the Russian media these days..
I assumed, but some of the actual things they've been reporting..
Apparently the ship was sunk after bad weather following an accidental fire, but at the same time Ukraine and NATO are to blame and WW3 has started.
That was a fake, even russkies, as addicted to their share of lies as they are, wouldn't be able to swallow that one. Ukraine sunk that one, fair and square.
After sending thousands upon thousands of people there, finally we now know, "нахуй" is somewhere in the Black Sea, hundreds of metres below the sea level.
Apparently, as a result of the whole deal with the ship, an episode from a 1973 Soviet cartoon has become really popular - to the point where the studio that created it (currently owned by RF) has removed it from their youtube channel, and is apparently trying to get rid of other uploads of the episode via claiming breach of copyright.
The relevant bit of the cartoon:

What a vicious storm in the background.
The entire invasion of Ukraine has shown how accurate the horseshoe political theory actually is. On twitter you have far right Trump fans (the more rabid kind) who are casting doubt about who the bad guys are or if even there is a real war going on. At the same time you have literal tankies who are rooting for Russia and calling out Ukraine as a hotbed of Neo-Nazisim. Crazy world when the far right and far left are supportive of Putin's bull shit.
I haven't been following German media... can anyone govt some perspective on the claims in this thread?

It sounds bonkers, if it's an accurate account.
What's the far left saying again?? I thought the Nazi claim was one of Putin's justifications to invade, meaning, so I thought, it has a far right source. Trump is Putin's fanboy so I'd think Trump zombies would support the Nazi claim and the war. Besides, Ukraine's president wouldn't lie to help Trump get re-elected, so he's a bad guy. But then Trump World's big (largely made up) boogeyman has been the Anti-Fascists - you know, the guys who pulled of January 6th and made it look like Trump supporters were doing it. Same guys in power in the 1940s who got us into World War 2, those Anti-Fascist types. Maybe you are saying Putin is actually Left wing, cuz, Communism? :weird:
There are some "anti-imperialist" "leftists" that call themselves things like Marxist Leninist or Maoists and go on twitter or reddit and vocally support places China, Syria, Russia, North Korea, etc because... they're against America, I guess?
If America is bad then anyone opposed to America must be good, that seems to be the level of thinking we're dealing with. Some call them tankies after the OG tankies who were western leftists who supported the USSR sending the tanks into Hungary and Poland in the early cold war to crush uprisings there. Not quite the same in my view, but close enough.
I'd have expected that those anti imperialists would oppose this imperialist behaviour from Russia, but then again they don't always make any sense. For what it's worth, most of the people I know who lean anti imperialist and opposed the USA in Iraq itself (myself included) strongly oppose Russia here. Politically I have only heard pro Russian sentiment from the right wing populist trump like side, but I haven't paid a lot of attention to be honest.
Politics is a social activity. These inconsistencies make more sense if you think of them as part and parcel of membership in a weird club where you can enjoy being with your weird-ass friends.
The only support for the Russian invasion I've heard came from Trump's mouth, just before the war launched. Most of my family voted twice for Trump, but not a single one supports Putin's war. On the other hand, I've got a lot of left leaning friends and not a single one of them supports Putin's war. Who the hell outside of pro-Soviet revivalists support that invasion??? And even most of those have to recognize by now how ill conceived the whole thing is.
DSA (Bernie's group, though Bernie himself isn't an idiot) has refused to support Ukraine.
Liar, it's just that they support the people not the government.

Did you bother to read your own source?

But hey, at least they remembered to praise Chavez:

I like how the DSAers just outsourced their foreign policy views to another Twitter account that none of them follow.
