An unexpected side-effect of the 2010 flooding in parts of Sindh, Pakistan, was that millions of spiders climbed up into the trees to escape the rising flood waters; because of the scale of the flooding and the fact that the water took so long to recede, many trees became cocooned in spiders webs. People in the area had never seen this phenomenon before, but they also reported that there were less mosquitos than they would have expected, given the amount of standing water that was left. Not being bitten by mosquitoes was one small blessing for people that had lost everything in the floods.

(Though honestly I am in the tiny part that isn't covered by rain in this picture, and we had a dry day today :D Still, the weather totally sucks this summer until now. http://www.buienradar.nl/buienradar-3-uur-vooruit.aspx
"Welcome to ..."
:o
~
And the jetstream being too far south, which has been giving you and us all this shitty rainy weather for the past couple of months, is due to move back to it's more usual place next week. Summer WILL finally arrive. :sour:
Multiple rainfall related records in the UK have been broken because of this. More rain than we've had since records began. Flooding is rife across the country.
Not as much of a problem for us as it is for you though ... :hmm:
We're not flooding anywhere as far as I know, guess we have a better landscape/flood protection for that. :p Or just less rain, of course. I noticed that the forecast says little to no rain starting friday, yay!
And I know it's welcome to, I didn't make it.
You silly Europeans... there's been no rain over the last month! First storm was yesterday!

We picked up this fuzzball last Monday.
Still need a name for it.
Aww, kitty <3
Name suggestions (dead scientists): Möbius, Fourier, Laplace, Oppie (short for Oppenheimer), Fresnel, Maxwell, Bethe, Landau, Riemann, Pascal, Curie, Rutherford, Heisenberg, Dirac, Pauli, Yukawa, Coulomb, Laue, Euler, Compton, Planck, Huygens, Young, Leibniz, Gödel, Erdös, Fermi, Bose, Ulam, Cantor, Galois, Schwarzschild, Lebesgue
Funny that. I already opted for Oppie. I have become a cat. The destroyer of sleep and furniture. The girlfriend was less enthousiastic.
We also considered Bose since there's a lot of rumble-purring coming from such a little cat. Just doesn't work as a name for a cat.
80s American TV Stars!
Stringfellow Hawk, Columbo, Mr T, The Face, Kit, Magnum, Captain Caveman, Penelope Pitstop, Willis, Hannibal, MacGyver, Cagney, Lacey, Alf, Cosby, Jetson, Lansberry, Duke, Doogie Howser, Fraggle, Quincy, Roseanne, Remington Steele (great name!), She-Ra, Shogun, Jean-Luc Picard, Riker
I'm sad to say we'll go with either one of two less creative names. Either Rembo or Smokie.
Rembo & Rembo fan? :D
Looks like Jack Nicholson :o
Excellent!
