Cain and Loki, we're all within a half day drive, assuming Cain's not lying for some paranoid reason. You guys want to have lunch some time? Like in RL? I'll buy. Loki, I understand you don't have a car but I'm sure we could meet down there in farm country. I promise I won't try to kill, maim, kidnap or otherwise harm either of you. And if anyone else out there lives nearby, you're invited too. :)
As far as I know Cain is in Ohio, and I'm in Illinois. :o
I thought you were in Indiana. What uni are you at?Quote:

You're not sure if you are in Illinois? Has all the fresh air and open space affected you that badly?
I'm in an ivory tower, and we all know those aren't a part of America. :oQuote:

Anyone here live in VA. I wanna see what some of you look like....
Killing poor elephants just so you could have your tower.
Beast.
They're effective against conservative militias, so it's a worthwhile sacrifice.
I always forget that I've actually met about four or five folks from here...was fun all around, though oddly enough sometimes I forget that I've met some of you.
If you live in Southern Michigan, the tri-state area is North West Ohio, North East Indiana and South Michigan. I presume tri-state areas are wherever three states border each other. What frackin' town is your uni in so I can check the distance.Quote:

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea, but I don't know when I'd be able to get away (%$&^ing economy) - I haven't even been able to make the 90 minute drive to Cincinnati for casino gambling in a year and a half or so. :mad:Quote:

Columbus is the tech capital of the Midwest... maybe even the biggest concentration of tech companies and jobs outside of Silicon valley. And frankly, when you're fleeing socialist insanity and punitive taxation... Ohio's not a bad place to go to (lower third of states WRT state taxation). It's immigrating to some socialist hell hole like California or NY that wouldn't make any sense. Like fleeing the USSR and moving to Cuba, or something.Quote:

I thought it didn't happen. :confused:Quote:

I'm neutral on it. Just reporting the facts. It isn't the whole state, just the area that's close to the Ohio and Indiana borders. I'm surprised at the difficulty so many are having with this. :|Quote:

My tri-state is PA, Maryland and Virginia, but sometimes it's PA, Maryland and Delaware. Or PA, NJ and some other state, even West Virginia, they don't have to be contiguous. Depends on which part of PA you live in, and what states are borders.Quote:

And once that bubble burst, every other company in the region realized that there were scores of unemployed techies in the city, and they could get a great deal on techie labor and bargain basement prices on shiny, slightly used datacenters if they wanted to. (And the companies that didn't go under still have a big corporate presence out here - we still have a massive IBM presence here, for example: lots of jobs and billions of dollars in infrastructure that won't be going away any time soon.)Quote:
