Stingrays in the swamp

Arstechnica has published a number of worrying articles about the govt's use/misuse of Stingrays in its investigations of ordinary citizens. As if that weren't worrying enough, we now have this article suggesting there may be truly illicit Stingrays deployed in DC:

Obviously the implication of this article is that hostile state or non-state actors may be spying on important and influential Americans, although I guess there's also a possibility that the Deep State is up to some unusually dodgy shenanigans. Either way, it's fair to say this was inevitable.
