Thread: A wizard makes you filthy rich

Default A wizard makes you filthy rich

Would you and your family turn into socialites? Gossip Girl style.

(note: the comparison isn't entirely appropriate as there are no wizards in Gossip Girl, only social injustice)

I would like to think not.

But I'm only 1 part of my family.

Now here is a counter question/situation.

Lets say you buy a winning lotto ticket (or said wizard above). You now have a fuck ton of monehs!

What would you say to NOT telling your family, quietly paying of all debt your nuclear family has, and then quietly invest the cash to secure a comfortable (but very early) retirement for the both of you and securing a college education for your kids?

Oooh I'd definitely tell my family, put aside some for a scholarship of some sort in Bangladesh, some more for my cousins' education, some more for building a small house in Bangladesh for my mum, maybe invest in a café or something on her behalf, put aside money for my sisters, invest in good to save the world from evil, etc etc.

I couldn't keep it to myself, even if it might lead to troubles down the line. There's too much good that can be done with lottery money

I would invest money in discovering whether or not Minx and Chaloobi are in fact in a competition to see who can create the most inane threads in General Chat...

...also invest money in learning magic, because if a wizard made me filthy rich, it logically follows that magic exists, and that people can know magic.

That's the worst logic, what if it's an innate ability? What if the wizard is not "people" as you know it? Maybe someone should invest in being smrt

I'd hold off on cashing the ticket in. I'd setup a plan to invest, payoff, whatever the money. I'd hire someone to make sure this is done right.

Then I'd cash the ticket, make it as public as possible (within friends/family) and immediately get the money away from me.

This doesn't violate the fact that magic exists or that something can know magic.

Invest money in how to control wizards, who know magic, thus giving me indirect control of magic.
