Thread: Extension of an Old Discussion

Default Extension of an Old Discussion

I understand this place was created to keep the old Atari CC alive. I've lurked for years, and I always appreciated the different viewpoints shown by everyone here, quirks included. From time to time, I get involved in various debates and link to information I've found/learned from here. I've even linked friends, both online and RL here as I figured they'd appreciate following the discussion.

Do you all particularly care if I refer new members here, or would you rather keep it as the closed community it frankly is? Its ya'll forum, so if you rather I didn't, I won't.

We very much wish you would.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.

Dude. Anyone new is better than the same old same old with this frackin' asylum of neurotic shut-ins.
    The Rules
Copper- behave toward others to elicit treatment you would like (the manipulative rule)
Gold- treat others how you would like them to treat you (the self regard rule)
Platinum - treat others the way they would like to be treated (the PC rule)

The old forum was always a mix of regulars and people who just happened to wander in.
The light that once I thought compassion still casting shadows in your action
The words you shared were cold transactions that bring me to curse what you've done
When you're up there absorbed in greatness with such success you've grown complacent
I hope you scorch your many faces when you fly too close to the sun

Maybe this could be an opportunity for this community to work on not being so openly hostile to new people?

    Has that happened recently?

I'll try to be as covert as possible.
I could have had class. I could have been a contender.
I could have been somebody. Instead of a bum

This place does resemble a hostile version of Cheers, now that I think about it.

Nothing for Skuld yet, but I've been afraid it's only a matter of time if he actually starts posting.

By all means, send people over!

Zany humour is probably best reserved for threads that don't involve recent mass deaths, at least on the serious forum. Of course a battle-weary CC'er would take a casual "fuck off" as an eager invitation for further correspondence, which can hardly be expected from a new fish, but even so, that's hardly a clear-cut case of stranger danger overdrive.
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.
