Well Wimbledon is already through the second round, time to have a thread about my favourite sport (to watch), so I don't have to spam the all purposes threads any more
So the fabulous four seem all to be in perfect shape, I am looking forward to have them all in the semis.

Roddick went out. Shocker. That guy would've had a great(er) career if it hadn't been for Federer. This time he was defeated by a rather unknown guy though. I hope for Federer come-back, although I suspect that Djokovic will have to beat Nadal for that to happen. I can see him win against the former, but not the latter.

My dad loves this stuff...is tennis fun to watch live? Or does it move so fast it's harder than watching on TV? I don't like watching sports on TV, but some sports I can watch live.

Following Murray, but doubt he'll win. Djokovic is looking v good and I hope he has a chance.

Glad to see young Tomic doing well, he has been an excellent player on the junior circuit so its good to see him go through to the 1/4 finals (most likely against Djokovic). I heard today that only Boris Becker, John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg have reached Wimbledon mens 1/4 finals at such a young age!

Well, both the Williams sisters go out in the 4th round. In straight sets.

Where the women's game is looking so unpredictable, the men's seems a to be a little more to standard, with all 4 top seeds going through to the quarters.
Both Nadal and Federer dropping a set though. Nadal picking up a possible foot injury too.
I called it from the first game i watched between the Fed, and nadal, that nadals basic strategy and over strength over Federer has been the abuse of federer's backhand. It's idiotic that on such a high level that such an abuse is a viable strategy, but it's probably due to federer's one handed backhand, while making him look like BA, the return is slow. And Federer's backhand is not good enough to beat nadal. For the most part his backhand is defensive, gets people out of position, or gives him time to regroup; it's not a kill-shot. How many points he score off the backhand? That's the biggest problem, other two minor problems are nadals' stamina and athleticsm, making key returns, having the stamina to go all out for each point. I think if federer will learn how to do a two-handed backhand (it may be too late), then perhaps he can beat nadal. It's really a joke, i like federer's shot placement, serve, and overall forehand shot more than nadal's, but if you play to his backhand, there's nothing he can do. (I mean he could still beat me if i did that, but in the context of the pro level, he needs to remove that weakness).

You are joking? Never seen Djokovic like that before. He was like a wild animal ferociously attacking with instincts. I loved the intensity and brilliant fast play. Nadal stood no chance keeping up, which to me was surprising. Wonder how long it will take before he beats Nadal on his own preferred surface. I can tell that it will not be long if he keeps it up.

You are contradicting yourself. Nadal stood no chance, and therefore it was most of the match not as tense as I hoped it to be. A really tense game has an open outcome.

He beat him in a final?Nadal stood no chance, but he still played well and landed some pretty amazing shots. Hence it was throughout entertaining despite being a 3-1 match. I hoped for 3-2 in favor of Djokovic too, but hey..

Saw the first set of Dolgopolov vs Djokovic, this Dolgopolov has a wicked style to play tennis, I am looking forward to see more of him.

Each set was decided by only one break. It was a service dominated match. I only saw the last set live.
Looking forward to the final.

While I do love Federer's serves, I prefer them to be highlights rather than the dominating part of the match. I want to see them play well with their returns and long, daring rallies. Hopefully we'll get that with Federer vs Murray / Tsonga.

It's Murray. Rallies tend to be shorter in Wimbledon, on the other hand you see more player going to the net.

Things have changed this season at Wimbledon; they've adjusted the surface so that it is slower. This makes for less serve-volley and longer rallies. A good thing, matches are that little bit more exciting.
This final should be good. Federer will have the edge I think, but he's past his best, and the Wimbledon crowd will be utterly partisan toward Murray.

Such a weekend for British sport.
Brit in men's singles final and Brit in men's doubles final at Wimbledon. British grand prix at Silverstone too, with Button on the front row. Gonna be flicking between channels.

Oh, right, you're one of those guys who expect Britain to win all sport by default then act like it's some kind of national disgrace when we don't. He put up a great fight against a better player.

Indeed, Andy played well. His speech at the end was touching also. However, when you see the footwork of Roger Federer in slo-mo, and stare in awe at some of his magical shots, then you realize there is just a different in class. If Murray were to overpower him, I think he would have to rely even more on his super hard serve and take full advantage of that backhand which imo is on par with Djokovic's.
Anyway, Federer can't go on forever. You have Nadal and Djokovic who beat him purely because their physical attributes are way better, being in their mid 20s. Now I would love to see a player combine the reflexes of Agassi, technique and footwork of Federer, tenacity of Djokovic, stamina of Nadal and serving strength of Roddick. Sometimes you think that these players can't possibly become any better, but if you put it that way, tennis is still in evolution.
