Well, voting is over. Let's see what Europe will be like tomorrow morning.

Congratulations America
Does anyone know why American polling stations start reporting within minutes of the polls closing, while we're lucky to get any British data within hours? Are there mandatory tea breaks?
Hope is the denial of reality
Yeah, I've been wondering about that too. They act as if a binary vote is difficult to report because of what? And what's with taking up to 9 hours to finish the count? It all smacks of poor organization.
Seems by the way that the political hooliganism that Randblade is so fond of was rejected by a majority of the British voters. Given that the Pound already has been rising strongly for the last 5 hours that's not going to be a big surprise to anyone.
Congratulations America
Americans presumably start reporting exit polls, not the actual results within a minute, right?
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!
Congratulations America
No, actual results.
Hazir might be right there. Each polling station does a tally in the US. Seems odd to drive all the ballots to a central station.

I hope the leader of the Conservative Party has learned from this that the only way to deal with europhobes is to kick them in the teeth. Reasoning with them is useless and only stands in the way of working on sensible reforms.
Congratulations America
Farage is saying he thinks Remain have got it, thanks to some polling done by some banking firms, and he's complaining that the governments decision to extend the vote registration deadline is what tipped it in remain's favour.
You know, in case anyone was worried that Farage was going to stop being a piece of shit just because he got the vote he's wanted his entire career.

Close win for Remain in Newcastle. Expectations were that it would be higher.

The second Leave took a lead, the pound dropped 2 cents against the dollar.
Congratulations America
Pound down 6%
Congratulations America
Looks like the bankers were a bit too confident in their internal polling. This is what happens when you think you're smarter than expert pollsters.

If Leave have done this the pollsters failed. The final polls showed a solid Remain lead.

There's no precedent for this kind of a vote. It was impossible to calibrate polling results for party ID, demographics, or turnout. They were educated guesses, no more.

Seems like some services are not able to cope. And my pc crashed.
Congratulations America
The PC doesn't want to Remain on.![]()

Ok I'm back, but bloomberg isn't. i think someone made a typo in that drop of the value of the pound. It's still bad but no 6% yet.
Congratulations America
If these trends continue, I fully expect the market to fall upwards of 2-3% tomorrow. At least my next British vacation will be cheaper.

You realize that the polling average right now is even odds, right?

I assume you mean Betting Average? The betting average has been hugely leaning towards Remain all along, even when Leave had a polling average it was still 3/1.
Based on the par spreadsheet Leave has done better than par in 90% of constituencies so far, this isn't close so far.
Sky have projected a Leave victory of 56% to 44% which would be utterly stunning.
No, the average of polls.

What are you talking about? The average of polls showed a tie.

Average of polls 50/50, lot of attention given to late reporting pollsters predicting clear victory for Remain.
