Hundreds if not thousands of children were deliberately abused by men and women in the US government in this abominable manner. Some were infants or toddlers. Some have been lost in the system, with no reasonable hope of ever being reunited with their parents. Families devastated. All because American conservatives felt a pressing need to be even greater shitheads than they already were.
