    Default Rate Your Vigor

Rate your life's vigor (10 is highest, 1 is lowest), then discuss it if you can.

    Discussion Topics

    - Is vigor a choice? How much so? 100%? Less?

    - Is vigor at all age related? Experience related? Health related?

    - Annecdotally, the more you learn about the real world and life in general affects your vigor in what way?

    - Are the most vigorous the most successful? Does vigor correllate with aggression? How about compassion? Faith?

    - Can drugs give you vigor, like caffeine? Cocaine? Methamphetamine?
    The Rules
Copper- behave toward others to elicit treatment you would like (the manipulative rule)
Gold- treat others how you would like them to treat you (the self regard rule)
Platinum - treat others the way they would like to be treated (the PC rule)

I refuse to speak to anyone who ever uses the word vigor to self-describe. It's unseemly.

While I struggle to not think of erections here, I'll try and take this seriously and posit that a person's cynicism and mood can be misunderstood to be vigor.

EG if I'm being cynical at work about ideas that are being proposed, I could be misunderstood to be lazy and unwilling to do anything. And I may be unwilling to do things because I'm cynical.

If you read the OP, it describes you, not me. My vigour has calcified into resolve, determination and perseverance. The point is moot.

I think cynicism leaches vigour. Low moods seem to correspond to low vigour. Is vigour a mood then? No, I don't think so. It influences mood or mood influences vigour, I guess.

Of course not. A reanimated corpse is animated nonetheless and thus capable of using a keyboard.

You just gave a list of possible meanings, Choobs, you did not specify which meanings you were using. So you did not effectively define your terms.

Check the list again. Many of the words omit definitions that were out of context for the poll and discussion. Those definitions that are included are within scope of my intended word usage.

HAY! Don't talk about me like I'm not even here.

Anyway, you and I both know youth is wasted on the young.... Life sometimes seems like a Great Big Existential FUCK YOU.

I didn't start to drink coffee until I had kids and needed energy to keep up with them.

I love coffee. I wish I'd drank it in college.

I did drink it in college, then stopped. Now with an almost toddler, it's a necessity. The day we had a power outage, I cried. And drove to the closest McDonald's for one of their iced mocha drinks.

Hmmm...how to describe it in words. I think one's vigor can be a biological factor, but as we age, I think environmental (social/mental) issues can change it. Right now I am at an all time low. Having a kid, not working, being depressed, the heat....I don't have any energy.

On days she is at my mom's, I am ready to do so much, even have tasks planned, and.....only get one or two things done.

I'm normally a very task-oriented, busy busy busy type person, so it is an odd thing to come to grips with. I hope it is a temporary thing on my part.

Honey, you have THE hardest job in the world. Your "low" will only be temporary when you begin to include toddler K in your tasks. They'll take ten times longer but you'll get your task-master fix and she'll learn a bunch of stuff. (Otherwise, those social/mental issues might need some chemical support....)

    Post-partum depression???

There was a recent study showing that coffee, even decaff, reduces risk of the deadliest kind of prostate cancer - 6 cups/day or something reduced it by 60%. There was a corresponding female cancer that it reduced too but I can't recall which.

The second heat wave on the Atlantic coast (before official summer) can make anyone droopy and tired. But especially moms with young kids. Cat, my suggestion would be a kiddy pool on the patio or back yard, filled with just an inch or two of cold cold hose water. Let the kid play with the hose, splash in the water, naked and without a diaper. Cups and floaty ducks or shit. You lay in there with her!

  23. #23
Ya, I bought one. That lasts about 10min before she's trying to climb out to eat more dirt in the garden.

I did put her in without a diaper last weekend, and she pooped in there. Then had the nerve to be mad when Mommy made her get out so I could hose her down and refill the pool!

  24. #24
Aw, maybe she's not a water baby but a dirt lover. Giver her a spoon and a trowel, let her "eat dirt" that doesn't have poison or fertilizer. Giver her water to make mud pies. Be sneaky and have cold chocolate pudding nearby....she'll figure it out. Also nothing wrong with pooping in the baby pool or bathtub. Just scoop it out quick and add some more clean water.

Dear Cat, you used to work in an aquarium, right? Sounds like great stuff for baby pool fun....seashells, buckets, measuring cups, making a waterfall, putting sand on the bottom, dragging in Barbie dolls for a swim.....rubber fish and duckies, the bathtub Sesame Street boat with Bert and Ernie....floating balls and squirt guns. Y'know, you're allowed to have fun, too!

She actually does love the water, anytime we are near a park fountain she goes berserk, wanting to touch.

I think as soon as she can walk it will be much easier for both of us (well, in some respects).

Anyway, didn't mean to drag this thread offtopic with my issues....
