    Default Antivirus

So I've been using Trend Micro's PC-Cillin for the last few years and am now feeling somewhat dissatisfied with it. Is anyone knowledgeable about the strengths and downsides to the current options on the market?
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

For something completely non-invasive, resource-saving and free: Microsoft Security Essentials.

No idea if its resource-saving or not relative to competitors but I also use this because of it being both free and non-invasive. Never had a problem with it.

Used AVG's free basic services for years and years now.

Never had problems, either resource-wise or worm/virus/trojan wise.

F-Secure unbraided their asshole some time back and now their client doesn't hog up system resources. Seems to keep one safe. Of course I get a free license through work, so
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Well, a big plus in my book was:
    a) Alert me only to actually important stuff (and not shenanigans like: "We found a malicious cookie!") and
    b) not annoying me with: "Oh hai, we updated your database!" or "Do you want to upgrade to a version which does stuff you don't really need? No? No worries, we'll ask you again every day just in case your change your mind!"

I have Avast. Never got a virus (and my computer is in pretty good shape after 4+ years), so...
Hope is the denial of reality
