It's way too pay-to-win for my tastes.
I've been playing for maybe a month and a half now and haven't paid a dime. Yeah, you can pay to upgrade your tanks faster or to get premium shells, but you really don't need to for enjoying the game immensely....Originally Posted by Wraith

My P2W threshold might be low. Skipping grind I can deal with to an extent, but the golden ammo is right out.
I played for quite a bit. The grind at T8 was rather obnoxious however, and I had some question with their balance decisions.
I've got a tier 6 medium, a couple tier 5s, some tier 4s, 3s and a 2 even. I really like to play the lower tiers, it's a lot of fun when you're good at it and the premium crap doesn't factor in much. My win ratio is right about 49% overall, but I don't mind losing much. I'm still having a lot of fun - maybe I'll get bored/ frustrated eventually but not so far.

It's decent. I'm in and out of the game. I'm told that if you WoT, you won't like the arcade mode tank battles, but the simulation tanks are solid. I mostly stick to the air combat though, and it's pretty good for that. It can get pretty grindy in the late-middle tiers, but you're probably used to that already from WoT.
I need to put controllable tanks in my jigsaw game!

Hmmm. Downloaded it funnily enough on wednesday.
Played it a bit. Seems ok. Tanks and controls are a bit basic.
You need to load up Warthunder Choobs. The tanks are a zillion times better, so realistic. The gameplay and tactics are excellent. Logged many, many hours. World of tanks just does not compare.

Is Warthunder the one with planes too? I've watched some game play and it did look interesting, but honestly I'm pretty good at WoT now and I'm not wild about climbing another learning curve... These days I'm pretty particular about what games I choose to play. For example, I'm still deciding whether or not to start playing the new Simcity.

Yep it's the one with the planes. Started out as a WWII fighter MMO, and introduced the WWII tanks at a later stage. The tank aspect is pretty much the only one I play now.
Also, during a tank battle, you have the option to jump into bombers and fighters and try to bomb the tanks, which adds an interesting element to it.
