    Default Northeastern US Storm

    So time to tick off the ways this is affecting the Amerikans here:

    1) Was planning to see a friend visiting from Philly in another borough. Instead, several subway lines are experiencing flooding, power failures and other delays. I haven't seen this happen from the rain since 2007.

    2) The peculiar wind direction of this storm is revealing that the caulking around my air conditioner (which I use maybe one day per year) is deficient.

    3) Got so bored I ended up stumbling into e-mails of a girl I dated for nine months and then broke up with. Blah.

    One of the power lines over here apparently has a bad connection, so whenever there was a particularly bad gust of wind we'd lose power for a split second, which meant every device with a digital on/off switch went off until switched back on. Router, Modem, and cable box ended up rebooting themselves several times within minutes. One of the really big ones resulted in the local town-wide siren going off and then a lot of emergency vehicles shortly there-after rushing somewhere...wasn't about to go outside and check because its raining pretty damn hard...

    A few days ago we got hit with a nasty overnight storm. It threw a tree branch through one side of our screen patio. Luckily I hadn't gotten around to replacing the screen after the dogs ripped it up a few weeks ago.
    Only other problem was the crazy loud thunder waking the baby and chasing Ocean into our bed.

    Rained the whole day after that, everybody and everything got wet, and the sheriffs I work with kept complaining about the downtown traffic from people to stupid to drive on wet roads.

    Crazy howling winds, sounded like a train coming in over the treetops. Knocked over the basketball hoop, and parts of someone else's trees are in my yard.

    Now it's the rain and flash flooding. FL had some flooding didn't it?

    Florida's as flat as the Olsen twins, you can spill a cup of water and floor something. The problem this time around was the leaves and debris that was pilling up from the extended freeze we had. Everything got clogged.

    You guys don't clean out storm drains, or sweep debris from streets? We have municipal services for that, but they're either too slow or incompetent, so residents get out there to do it. We even clean the snow from around our fire hydrants....

    Plus, FL is basically a swamp or sand. Your land can't percolate or drain water very well.
