Essentially a ban on performing abortions unless the mother's life is in danger. Violations may result in loss of medical license as well as jail-time.

Obviously unconstitutional, but will it pass?

How long will it be before it's struck down?

And is there any way to punish lawmakers for wasting taxpayers' money like this?

You usually say "teh government" should butt out of peoples' personal lives, and not dictate how physicians practice medicine, either.....but when it comes to abortion you're okay with Big Brother after all, huh.

Pretty sure a court will issue an injunction against this law the second it's supposed to come into effect.

Pretty sure a court will issue an injunction against this law the second it's supposed to come into effect.

Well, not quite THAT fast. There needs to be a justiciable controversy before a court can hold even a preliminary hearing so someone would have to be able to claim it has injured them somehow. So the injunction will have to wait until 0-3 days after a physician has been charged or had their license suspended or placed under review before being issued.
