How do you choose which dead "celebrity" is worthy of a thread?
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.

Well you made a thread for this one, skipping any number of opportunities to point out that someone died.

A couple of them have even been worthy of a brief moment of thought or two. Every time I see a news article about someone kicking it I wonder if any of you are going to feel this one is important enough to post about.

Anyway, heard this morning on the news (before he died) that his abused wife was with him. How touching.

Okay, if that's how you feel then make those threads. Apparently since you don't make em these dead people must not mean too much to you, anyway.

I think these threads are kind of stupid. If I didn't, I might make one.

    But probably not.

Mentioning that someone keeled over in IRC is about as far as I would ever go.

    His dice collection
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

It comes from a story I heard about why monkeys don't make good pets. You put a monkey in a cage and all it has to do all day is think about how to get out, and because its smart and its got hands, it will always cause you mayhem. Now, when I was surpervising hourly employees I had way more people than work, which means they had a lot of time on their hands, which means they were bored and had to find ways to entertain themselves. They were very much like monkeys in a cage and they were always causing mayhem. That experience became a lesson on the nature of life. Its really a metaphor for civilization. We're all monkeys in a cage my friend and there's no way out, so the result is mayhem. Why do you think people, society, everything is so fucked up? Monkeys in a cage.

Wikipedia is bullshit, but the Wikipedia page for Diffrent Strokes contains the alleged (and unsourced) names of the show in various countries. Some are really ridiculous:

Spanish-speaking countries - Blanco y Negro (White and Black)
Italy- Harlem contro Manhattan (1980-81), Il mio Amico Arnold (1981-1986), Arnold (after 1988) (Harlem v. Manhattan; My friend Arnold)
Japan- Arnold boya wa ninkimono, Arnold is popular
Israel- על טעם ועל ריח (On taste and smell)
Germany- Noch Fragen Arnold? (Any more questions Arnold?)

    What? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diff'rent_Strokes
