Thread: [GW2] Guild Dungeon?

    Default [GW2] Guild Dungeon?

When more of you get higher we should start doing instance dungeons as a group. First one is at 30.

  2. #2
Ready and willing (and finally 30)

Weekends seem best time to do it.

I'll join in on anything that you care to get going.

I noticed on my last run through AC that even though it was a level 35 dungeon, I was still getting level-appropriate rewards. I'm assuming that's standard, which means it should pretty much always be useful to run through a dungeon.

How's this weekend look? I'll be available in the afternoon for sure on Sunday and probably much of Saturday (unless the wife has something planned).

Am finally 30 too - on engineer

Sunday morning US time is available to me.

I think gogo said he was interested too. Want to set a time, Lewk?

I'll be on Saturday morningish and later that night and on in the afternoon on Sunday. I suggest we run CM - should be fun. After CM next weekend we could take TA if people are that level. Knock out a story dungeon a week.

Tim, you seem to have the most restrictive schedule - why don't you pick a time tomorrow or Sunday that's good for you?

"Ascent to Madness" opened up in the middle of Lion's Arch, if anyone besides me and Tim still play this. It's a pretty easy dungeon if anyone tries it.

Been playing a lot of X-com lately. I'm not sure why my interest dissolved in this... its got everything I like in a MMO. I'm guessing that MMOs just may not be as riveting for me as I once held them to be.

Still playing a lot, and still have so much to discover.

Probably taking me so long because, as usual, am switching between the classes.

    Currently at;
    66 on Guardian
    56 on Thief
    52 on Elementalist
    10-30 on various others
Getting itch to level up the Hunter now.

Have also switched over to a European server; Maguuma was just too quiet for events etc at the hours I was on. Kept up membership of TOO though.

Only just did my first World PvP yesterday, and not tried the other PvP option, so a whole new arena of play to discover. And I haven't yet set foot in a dungeon ...

Level 80 on the Guardian. Finally.

    What do I do now?

Apart from continuing to level all the alts, which I'll be doing anyway.

Am trying to get armoursmith up to 400. Have Orange recipes, but figure it'll be expensive to craft a full kit of Orange armour once I get to 400. And I only have one single gold piece.

Will delve into both PvP elements and find out what that's all about.

Dungeons I haven't tried at all. Wouldn't know which one to start with, at 80, and I guess it'll have to be a PUG.

Anyone want to get back into Guild Wars 2?

Looks like they have solved issues with cross server grouping.

I'll show up for anything that happens. May or may not remember how to play.

Heh I know what you mean.

Incidentally this is why I like Guild Wars 2 - no subscription fee so you can always come back to it free of charge.

New Dungeon Finder is going live later this month - might be useful in filling in the group. I grouped up and did my first Fractal of the Mists dungeon - I got to hand it to AN, they are very creative. During my first mists adventure I turned into a dolphin and had to avoid Krait, climbed a giant tower requiring our group to pick up a hammer and hit a gong several times with the added bonus that each second you held the hammer you got closer to death. After that we freed a giant titan sized giant who bows to you and if you return the bow you unlock an achievement. Then we were timed to get wisps back to base camp in an ever changing forest. Finally we fought a giant tentacle beast that fired an instant downed laser but could be blocked with an equitable stone that can reflect the beam (weapon slot). Crazy and fun. I imagine it will get somewhat repetitive going through it multiple times but even so I applaud them.

Hmmh. Going from your description, I have to wonder however, why GW2 dungeons were quite consistently voted for worst dungeons in an MMO in Massively.

    My opinion -

    1. There is no hard trinity - it breaks the "must have tank, dps and healer." This bugs people (it bothered me a bit because I like healing).
    2. As of yet (will change soon) no dungeon finder. This is a BIG complaint and frankly a legit one.
    3. Some of the mobs can be glitched on release. In some cases that still is the issue.
    4. Complaints about difficulty on both sides. Some find the content too difficult and others find it too easy - sounds like a happy medium to me.
    5. Some of the dungeon rewards are lackluster. But since the game isn't big on vertical progression I don't see why this is a big deal.

GW2 is a refreshing change of pace if you play a lot of MMO's however it isn't for everyone. It requires people to dodge instead of sitting comfortably in one spot and just spamming their abilities.

Requiring people to move is no big achievement. There are quite a lot of bosses in WoW where you have to move as well.

Requiring dodging from timed attacks is different - and like I said this mechanic and the lack of a trinity is something that people have hard time with. The game isn't for everyone but I still think its fun.

Is it? There are several bosses in WoW where you have to dodge into different directions based on the attack of the boss. Ozruk, for example, who'd simply flatten you if you did it wrong. Or the Will of the Emperor in Mogu'shan Vaults.

Started playing GW2 again. There's even more stuff to do now. There was also a fun shower of items when I first got back.

It turns out the server a bunch of us landed on, Maguuma, is actually relatively highly ranked in WvW.

I also leveled my alts to 20 with the one year anniversary gift. I'm super excited about the next patch with dungeon finder.

You actually get one for every character you created more than one year ago. I can finish filling up my stable with alts, all level 20+.
