Thread: The pictures thread

Oh, I mean, the basic idea of each kinda exists, but the details/rules/etc. are off. Still worthwhile to realize that the people making a big fuss over 'traditional' marriage don't really have much to stand on from the Bible. The Bible couldn't care less about gay men marrying (though it obviously doesn't have that social structure in mind); it just cares about them having sex.

The messages have been pretty anti-corporatist/business, not just anti-Wall Street.

Interesting, definitely a different mood from here than. Most people here a sick of the banks but still in favour of our industrial companies. That means even business people form other fields are against the banks, for loosing their money in stupid investments.

I know every protest usually has its share of idiots, or someone jumping on a bandwagon, but in the vein of OWS, wouldn't complaints about corporations be about their structure, payment of taxes, how they treat and pay their non-corporate employees, etc. rather than the fact that they exist, the products they make, or other "They're the boogeyman" kind of nonsense? Or even more basically, is that it is not hypocritical for me to think that Kimberly-Clark* makes some very good paper products that are quite useful in a variety of industries, and personally use their products as well, while also thinking that they shouldn't be able to make use of tax loopholes.

*Kimberly-Clark used only as an example, and not intended as a factual statement of its practices.

A similar and equally credibly "hypocrisy" argument could be made against both the movements in 1989 in Europe and the recent Arab spring, so perhaps it's best to not feed the troll?
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Best part of the cock trophy picture, it was on the front page of Norways most popular newspaper.

Because I honestly hope that Dreadnaught is still a rational, intelligent human being capable and willing to listen to reason, and modify his opinions when presented with such, and has not reached the monumental level of willful disregard for logic and sense, both in what he interprets, and what he will communicate, that Lewkowski has attained.

What kind of pretty pictures do you think are better than masses of Americans exercising their rights to speech and assembly? Maybe you're looking for the Photograph thread.

No problem, any time I was thinking of starting a new topic for that, but it didn't happen for some reason.

In other words if everyone would have followed to "Don't bite the hand that feeds" in human history, we would still all live in dictatorships.

Or in this case a proto-cyberpunk dystopia, but there you go.

Many really are anti-corporate. I mean, complaining about the structure of corporations is pretty fundamental, don't you think? They may be personifying this with certain companies, but they seem to have beef with things that just about every company does.

Are you joking? I've been complaining about that for months. I've kept OG on ignore partially because he continues to politicize what should be a lighthearted thread. All I'm doing is responding to things.

Source? Also unless the practice is reasonable or defensible with objective logic "every company does it" isn't good enough reasoning to shield a practice from criticism. For instance, if someone were to hold a protest in 1800's America protesting cotton plantation slave ownership and treatment, "every cotton plantation does it" would not make slave ownership and treatment acceptable, nor would that be a valid defense.

You can also split this off into a separate thread here in GC if you want.
