Erm, Vietnam involved one side militarily beating the other...

The ones I could think of are Zanzibar uniting with Tanzania, Singapore uniting with Malaysia, and a bunch of attempts to create some form of an Arab Republic. All but the first project collapsed. You could make a decent case for German and Italian unification, but that involved quite a bit of coercion, and ultimately ended up with the dominant state enforcing its culture on the rest.
