Well, it's not worded to consider what a reasonable person would want... which is good, since "reasonable" is not exactly a word I'd use to describe most of the posters around here. And that's half the charm of this place.

All well and good to have a rule against being "excessively" offensive (whatever that means), but often the point is to be offensive. Just ask an artist, or a comedian. Carlin comes to mind... if he wasn't totally offensive, his work wouldn't have any artistic or social value... and he probably wouldn't be funny either. If you see what I'm getting at - being offensive for the sake of offending people is one thing, but just as often being offensive is a means of getting at something deeper or more important, etc.
