I feel sympathy for the individuals of both sides who are suffering. I don't feel much sympathy for the collected groups which are supporting atrocity-level behavior via direct and indirection action and by deliberate non-action. Exploring reasoned policy-making does provide value if only as an intellectual exercise. As I am not an extrovert, however, I have no need to performatively emote in public or semi-public areas in order to make those feelings real.
