Given the possible consequences of getting bad grades in the US it's no surprise that parents fight so hard against the teachers. Given the possible consequences of believing in evolution it's no surprise that some parents fight against evolution in biology classes. Given the large number of worn-out beaten down hopeless uneducated parents in the US, well, it's no surprise that things suck.
