I've been tempted to dig out my old copy of Railroad Tycoon 3, is it similar to that?

Ummm. Ish.

It's more intra-city transit than inter-city transit - you work within one city per game.

So instead of ferrying peeps from city to city, you ferry them around one city.

Oh, I thought that looked kind of interesting but didn't buy it, Bukaroo.

It's good. It's fairly limited in what it will allow you to do - can't build or destroy roads or buildings for instance. Can lay tracks and stations, and that's about it.

Trams, buses, metro (above and below ground), water buses, and helicopters are the sum total of your transport options. A monorail is available by DLC.

But I've been at it for days and days now, and I'm loving it. It's polished and flows nicely. I like.
