What do you collect?

I've been 'redecorating' my house (really just moving my STUFF around to accommodate my mother's STUFF that recently found its way here).

I must be my mother's daughter, because we collected the same STUFF over the years, even though she lived in Florida and I lived in Pa.

My List: anything Delft--vases, pitchers, jugs, plates. Cobalt blue glass. Depression era knobby milk glass. Mary Hadley pottery. Antiques of previous purpose (irons, coffee grinders, tea pots, candle holders, clocks, copper wash tubs, medical utensils). Handwoven baskets and quilts. Stained glass. Seashells. Perfume bottles and spritzers. Miniature tea sets. Old post cards.

My older son collects hard back books and t-shirts (not sure but I suspect he's also collecting arty pot pipes, oy). Younger son is collecting pocket knives (pretty much anything with a blade) and military gear--helmets, badges, buttons, medals. He wants to start collecting historical guns now, the kind made with wood.

Thankfully they outgrew the "let's collect the whole series of Star Wars Mountain Dew cans!"

Used to collect and paint miniatures, but gave that up and gave them away.

Now, I don't know...books, dvds, games...don't know if that stuff counts, not like I get first editions or limited director cuts or what not.

Oh, and recently started collecting complaints from my wife.
Unfortunately, they are far too common to be worth anything on the market..

Delft is uhm, it's white china with painted blue decoration. I think it originated in Holland (?)

The ones I have don't work. They're just nice to look at. The only one that works, I stop the pendulum because it drives me nuts to have it dong every half hour and then on the hour. Not good for insomniacs.

Wish my ex hadn't ruined my old first generation "digital" alarm clock that had the number flippers. That was a really cool time device, plus it played the radio.

Oh my! My grandmother had one of those! I used to lie in the bed staring at it all night long, imagining the people who lived inside to turn the numbers. Also, I could hear it...

I collect junk. Most of it is from plumbing or irrigation repairs, remodeling leftovers, and hundreds of different types of fasteners, nails, screws, nuts and bolts, washers. I always get extra when I'm working on projects and since I hate to go back to the store in the middle of a project I'll pick up different sizes of the same thing just to make sure. My garage if full of tubs with brass, copper, steel, PVC, ABS fittings and tubs with all the various fasteners I have collected ofer the years.

I actually have two digital flip-clocks and a numechron time piece in my collection. Originally, neither of the two "flip" clocks were functional until I made some necessary repairs. The first piece I simply had to oil the electric motor, and the other I had to re-assemble most of the gears after the clock suffered a hard drop. Unfortunately, the radio switch no longer functional.

OMG Being, are you my dad? He used to collect that STUFF, and after he died I couldn't stand to let it all go. My garage has his glass Skippy jars filled with nuts 'n bolts 'n screws, and one of those drawer organizers (with the label gun tags) filled with all sorts of goodies. (I think the rubber cement-on-a-brush is passed its expiration date.)

He also had a penchant for hand saws, and would use a burning tool thingie to put his name on the wooden handle. I like tool guys.

Actually, I think the numechrons did use cards, but they folded as they spun. I'll have to disassemble mine again to see for sure.

I have a shelf full of junk I consider important enough to collect, but most of it is unrelated to each other.
Some highlights:
The Super Mario Galaxy preorder coin
The Original Mario Happy meal bag
Several assorted boxes
A TV series I own on DVD
A copy of DDR Mario Mix

OK, most of that is Mario stuff.
I also have a floor to ceiling shelf filled with Lego sets, Including a few really rare ones.

Christmas ornaments. I stopped counting after 120, and I collect more every year.

I have a lot of books. But I wouldn't call myself a collector. All the things I've collected in my past I've gotten rid of, lost or destroyed. Collecting is strange.

There's several shops in NYC that sell those...and other bones. Pretty cool stores. Of course then you also have the hipsters, frat boys, or other immature dolt who comes in and has to have a laugh and harass the staff about their collection of penis bones...

...then there's the fact that there is enough demand for them to have a large collection of penis bones for sale.

I have a couple of rodent skulls (the teeth are neat) and a some sea horse skeletons. My mom had a strange looking shell-skin of what appears to be a coral. We used to have a snake skin but it crumbled up into flakes.

I also saved my childrens' baby teeth (they rattle around like pirate booty in a jar and look like bone jewelry) and their pre-orthodontia dental molds.

My deceased dead cats' bones are hanging out in a pretty ceramic urn. Ernie and Emily got their own little wooden ash vault boxes lined in velvet, with a plaque on top.

I've got a few hundred Hot Wheels going back a little over 10 years (still in blisters), about four thousand Magic: The Gathering cards (and most of the novels), a little over 100 still working video games (6 current consoles), dozens of Lego sets totally hundreds of pieces, and a few signed comic books.

Top of my halfway closet with some of the Hot Wheels that were in odd packages that don't store well in the boxes Mattel ships the cars to the stores in, and multiple 3" binders with my Magic collection. 2nd picture are some of the novels on my nic-nac shelf.
